Baby aspirin

Well I went to my GP today and told him I'm pregnant with pregnancy number 10 (6 mcs) and I am also due to go to a miscarriages clinic next Tuesday.
My GP said to still go the the mc clinic as they might want me to take aspirin. Is this safe! Has anyone taking them before? Do they work?
He has also got me booked in for an early scan next Wednesday.
So my question is what are aspirin used for and how could this help prevent me from having a miscarriage? Xx

The clinicians at the mc clinic will tell you whether they want you to take aspirin or not.

It is safe to take in lots of high risk pregnancies as it decreases the risk of complications like pre-eclampsia but the research I've read and information from a friend who had multiple miscarriages indicates it isn't effective for preventing mc.

This is why your GP has left it to the obstetricians to advise if you should be on it and for how many weeks.

It worked for me. After multiple miscarriages, I got a blood test taken where it was identified that my blood was thicker or stickierthan it should be. Not sure of the technical term, but I imagine it to be too thick to create the necessary placenta to baby pathways sufficiently and that's why I miscarried. After taking it from weeks 4 to 12,i had a successful pregnancy.
There were some weird side effects. I bruised a lot as it thins your blood.
I'm pregnant again and taking 75mg aspirin again. My GP recommended it but I guess some GPs may be more cautious.

Im on my second miscarriage and after somebody mentioned on here about tests for lipids I have been madly searching it and I’ve heard it can be taken for sticky blood/APS to help thin the blood alongside a daily injection. I also spoke to a friend who’s had 5 miscarriages and on the 5th after Surgical management they found she had sticky blood and after the injects and baby aspirin now has two children :)

I’m visiting the epau tomorrow and I’m asking them about this when I go.

It was standard at my ivf clinic so I took it throughout my pregnancy. It thins the blood slightly and as a result might help to prevent some miscarriages. I think the studies are not black and white on whether it helps, but my Clinic's view was that it does no harm and might help.

What are the risks on taking them? Xx

The lipid test is for Hughes syndrome also called antiphospholipid syndrome. It's linked to a few nasties during pregnancy not just mc.

Sorry I can't remember why the poster said she couldn't take aspirin.
