How many times did you go in for reduced movements?

Just that really. I’m sat hooked up to the trace machine for the second time in 5 weeks and everything seems absolutely fine. I hate the idea of wasting anyone’s time (even though the midwife has been absolutely lovely about it), so was just wondering if I’m being overly cautious or if other went in a lot too?

Glad they’re taking good care of you and baby.

I was utterly terrified each time I i experienced reduced movement. And I was super apologetic when inevitably baby started moving during monitoring.

Each time the midwives told me they would far rather I was there and they could check baby was ok than ignore it and something possibly be wrong.

I have to say I cannot fault the maternity care I received. Seriously thankful for the NHS.

Just to reiterate. If you go in daily it’s fine. Please don’t be the person that waits or decides you’ve been in too many times already.

And towards the latter part it isn't just reduced movements you should go in for. It's ANY change. I read a very sad post from a lady whose baby was moving a lot and the child died. Please always go in.

I was in every day for the last 10 days of my first pregnancy. CTG was fine every time and they sent me home after a few hours. I finally got to see the consultant obstetrician on the 10th day who said she thought baby was moving but I just 'wasn't feeling it'! She scanned me for 25 mins, had me doing star jumps (at 40+3) drinking iced water and generally dancing about like a loon before conceding 'hmm, she is very quiet isn't she?'
They induced me that evening. DD was born healthy and well, but slept non stop more or less. She stopped waking at night by 3 weeks and has been the soundest sleeper ever since, she's now 11!
You could just have a lazy little babe, but there's never any doubt that if you're not feeling enough movement, you should get checked.

Never had reduced movements either time so didn’t go in.

Once and then they told me I had to go in every three days... so I lost track. Cost me a fortune!

muffinthepuffin · 02/07/2018 18:04

Went in once with my first pregnancy at 39+3, they took it seriously and suspected she'd stopped growing and said they wanted her out sooner, so I had attempted inductions later that week which turned into a priority section, she was smaller than we'd been expecting.

6 pregnancies, never had reduced movements.

With my daughter pretty much daily as she had trisomy 18 and poor movements.

With my healthy son I think five times maybe.

Once only, in my second pregnancy which resulted in DS2 being delivered by EMCS within a couple of hours of me going in. He was very poorly and wouldn't have lasted much longer.

4 tomes with DS, I overheard a midwife saying she was busy dealing with a “teenage mother faking reduced fetal movements” and I was so embarrassed they thought I was faking it I walked home, then I got a call the next day saying my blood test results were showing poor liver function and baby needed to be delivered that day. It has made me think twice before calling with this current pregnancy but I’ve gone twice and am 38 weeks

bluesky45 · 03/07/2018 09:46

Twice. First time, I can't remember how many weeks but it was the week before they would put you on the monitor, 23 weeks maybe? They listened to heartbeat which was fine and measure bump which was small so sent me for a growth scan the next day, all fine in the end. Second time was 40+4. They put me on the monitor and all was fine, I was actually having contractions I couldn't feel! Gave me a sweep and booked me in for induction the following day. Sent me home and labour started on its own about an hour after we got home. Baby wasn't breathing when he was born and required NICU. I don't know if that is related to reduces movements the day before but I feel like it is. Hes totally fine now though. So I would always go in and be checked if in doubt.

SiolGhoraidh · 03/07/2018 13:09

Once so far this pregnancy (30 weeks). Had a couple of episodes where the baby has seemed a bit quiet, but has perked up after a cold drink and a lie on my side. When that didn't work I phoned triage and got told to come in.

Felt a right fraud when he started kicking away in the waiting room, but they wanted to do a trace anyway. Doesn't help that I have anxiety anyway, so I was torn between 'what if something is really wrong' and 'what if I'm just overreacting and wasting everyone's time'. The midwife was really clear that there is no such thing as wasting time, and if I'm worried, and a cold drink and a lie down hasn't got him back to normal behaviours, I should come in, 'even if we see you 100 times'.

That was really reassuring, and whilst I hope I don't need to go back, I definitely will if needed.

Bibijayne · 04/07/2018 05:18

3 times. Baby has looked good all times. But third time was Sunday morning and I've been admitted ever since. It looks like I'm really quite unwell. Listen to your body. If you're not happy, go in. Sometimes baby can let you know when there's something wrong before you realise it!

daytonabeach · 04/07/2018 05:38

4 times, 3 at night. Private hospital, midwives always v good about it. I had to pay £50 each time for night visits, bargain for the peace of mind!

Stellarbella · 04/07/2018 11:00

I’m having to go in every two days for monitoring until I can be scanned next Wednesday. The care I’m getting from the NHS is exceptional
