Which one is best for a one year old and newborn preferably not side by side

I have an Out n about nipper double! Amazing pram.! I don't like the Phil and Ted prams I don't like the idea of a toddler or baby being so close to the floor! Xx

Ilovechocolate111 · 01/07/2018 15:18

And also the nipper isn't as wide a a normal side by side! It fits though all standard door ways x

Following with interest!

Ilovechocolate111 Really I’ll go have a look at that 🙂

Mountain Buggy Duet. It is a side-by-side but one of the narrowest on the market and so easily fits through doorways / on the bus etc. It is actually narrower across the wheels than a Phil & Teds. I'd rather both children had a good view than put one child practically in the shopping basket and at car-exhaust height.

Beetlebum1981 · 01/07/2018 16:18

I've got an out & about nipper too, it's fab. I thought it was going to be a bugger to manoeuvre as it's quite heavy but it's so easy! I have to take the wheels off to get it in my boot but that's simple enough too.

xyzandabc · 01/07/2018 16:22

I know you've said no side by side but I would highly recommend the out and about nipper 360. I loved mine, had the single version too and loved that aswell.

I think you can even get a carrycot for it now which you couldn't when I had mine. I used a Phil and Ted's cocoon and just laid it on the reclined seat for the newborn.

My eldest was 18 months when his sister was born.

We initially had a double within two weeks I gave up on it.

Not sure if something which will work for you but I just used a McClaren XT as they go flat so can be used for the younger one as well as a toddler.

I then wore baby in a sling (and usually had a buckle carrier with me incase baby was asleep in the buggy and eldest was to tired to walk).

Although to be fair my eldest was quiet abit older and a pretty good walker but worth considering trying with your existing single one.

I absolutely love my baby jogger city select. Not sure how it compares to others size wise but I've not had any issues and it is lovely to push and really easy to convert between single/double

BounceAndClimb · 01/07/2018 17:16

Mountain buggy duet v3 is side by side but the narrowest one available, fits through house doorway size easily isn't much wider than our single silver cross wayfarer.
Also has rear facing carrycot and seat you can get and attach instead of one of the seats.

We have the same gap (DD was 12 months when DS was born) and its great, means now he's 8 months they can sit side by side and both see out rather than one having to look at the back of a seat.

I am in the middle of purchasing the uppababy vista it’s bloody brilliant

lovemyhorsesxo · 01/07/2018 17:23

I attached an image to show you how it supports a toddler and newborn

Lovemyhorses, does it also have a carrycot/lie flat seat option for a newborn?
Just mentioning as car seats aren't recommended for long amounts of time due to positioning for babies breathing if it is only the car seat or older sear options.

Oysterbabe · 02/07/2018 07:03

Another vote for the mountain buggy duet. We walk miles and it's a joy to push, plenty of room for shopping and it really melts my heart watching my older child chatting to the baby and pointing things out to him.

Muffin7 · 02/07/2018 07:16

I have an iCandy Peach, which I bought second hand. My son was 11months when my daughter was born. I love it, easy to fold down, super easy to manoeuvre and lots of options in terms of how you want your children to sit. My son is now 26months and only now is it starting to get a bit heavy to push, but obviously my son walks a lot now so it's not that much of an issue.

dontevenblink · 02/07/2018 07:42

We had a mountain buggy duet as well. Never found a door we couldn't fit through and used it on buses too. I had 3 under 4 and I had a buggy board on it too and it coped really well with its heavy load! Good on grass as well as pavements too.

dontevenblink · 02/07/2018 07:45

We used the attachable carrycot when newborn, but the seats lie flat and I've seen people using those Phil & teds soft cocoon type things (iyswim) instead.

OneForTheRoadThen · 02/07/2018 07:51

I second the ICandy Peach. It's a brilliant pram. I've got a 22 month gap and one of the deciding factors for me was that I didn't want to fork out lots of money for a side by side pram that I might only get 6 months - 1 year use out of.

It is only as wide as a single so fits on buses easily and has great suspension. Mine was ex display so a lot cheaper than usual. There are many Facebook groups selling peaks secondhand if you want to save some money x

Namechangemum100 · 02/07/2018 11:06

I have a 17 month old and 2.5month old and we love our mountain buggy diet, it's side by side but so narrow, I'm yet to find a door it doesn't fit through.

Get the cocoon rather than the carry cot though, it's much cheaper and works just the same for the short amount of time they are in them.

Namechangemum100 · 02/07/2018 11:09

Oh and congratulations!

OneForTheRoadThen · 02/07/2018 13:07

Meant to add - I've tried two prams that Mumsnet swears buy - the mountain buggy duet and the baby jogger city mini and I didn't like either of them.

Best thing to do is go to a big shop with your older child and have a hi pushing the prams with them in x
