Hi everyone-I am 36/40 preg with bubba no2 and have had a csection booked since 34 wks as no2 is breech-like my dd was. (She was planned csection as feet first!! now 2.5 yrs )I have been to the clinic today and found out babe has moved headdown!! I am now feeling a bit distraught as I dont no whether Im coming or going!! Do I try a VBAC or just go ahead with the csection planned for 15th June-We have been so excited about knowing the dates and I have been getting ready mentally and physically-I dont want to wait any longer then the 15th!! Im getting impatient and want my baby here safe at last! But now babe has turned maybe I should try? I am scared I will need an emergency section anyway if at all goes wrong or if I dont labour well. I have read about VBAC and it sounds as though I need to weigh the pros and cons of both. Can anyone give me some of their views and experiences please? I really need to make a plan for my own sanity! Thanks in advance! (hmm)

if your baby is head down...there is really no reason at all you shouldn;t go for a VBAC

there is no medical indication that you cannot give birth vaginally this time

it is better on the whole, to have a trial of labour, yes, with an elective, you know the due date, but on balance, babies are often better off in utero until they are ready to be born..which might not be at 38 - 39 weeks, but at 40 or even 41.....

can you look into a doula, www.doula.org.uk, to help support you through a VBAC?

there are lots of threads about VBAC here if you search the archives..i had one and it changed my life !

Def VBAC I have had two VBA2Cs (after 2 sections) and the recovery afterwards was wonderful. In both cases I walked out of hospital the same day that the baby was born, the last time only 3 hours afterwards .

That said, I was lucky in that I had very short labours (both under 1 hour 20 mins) so I was not particularly tired out . Both babies were late 11 days and 17 days which some people wouldn't be able to cope with, for me personally I would have found it harder to cope with another section.

Go for it, it is the most amazing thing I have ever done

Good Luck in whatever choice you make

Why not try to make an appointment with your midwife? It sounds as if you were all prepared for a c-section and having to change your perspective is taking time. I think there is a website full of information about vbacs but your midwife will know what you need to know. VBACS happen all the time and the hospital will have a protocol for managing them. Good luck.
