Short cervix and low lying placenta - 23weeks

Hi everyone,

I am worried, I had an internal scan on Thursday and have noticed my cervix was measuring at 2.4cm and also have a low lying placenta. Having read on here lots of people have been given progesterone to help? My consultant never mentioned this to me and Just said well you made it this far already as if that was a good thing.
I had further scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks for growth of baby due to low Papp-a. I read my notes and did see there was no funnelling which is good news but Is there anything I can do to help as this is my first baby and very excited but now full of worry.
Please help! X

I'm really sorry to hear you've got this to worry about. As far as I'm aware there's not a lot you can do about the short cervix except be very aware of any changes especially bleeding or discharge that could be amniotic fluid. The good news is you are really close to the viability threshold so if anything did happen you have a good chance of baby being ok as long as you get seen quickly. Fingers crossed that everything is fine and you make it all the way to term x

Hi TinyTerror1,

Thank you for replying! :)
I’m trying to rest more than usual.
With the discharge, I’ve always suffered throughout my pregnant but today I’ve experienced a sudden increase (white and creamy looking) sorry for the extra info!, I can’t help but wonder if this is a bad sign? Or is it me just be a worrier.
I really don’t want my boy to come early, I want him to stay cooking for as long as possible x

Amniotic fluid is clear so what you have had should be nothing to worry about. There are some pantyliners you can get that detect amniotic fluid. I can't remember what they're called and I've no idea how much they cost. Resting is a good plan. Hopefully you have some support from your partner or family so you can take it easy as much as possible xx
