No movement but heartbeat help

3 days ago, I noticed the baby had no movement towards the evening which was unusual. The baby had previously been very active. The next day I was quite busy, but again towards the evening I noticed no movement, I thought maybe because I'd been busy maybe I'd just missed it. The next day around midday I had been lounging around for hours to determine whether I could feel anything and felt nothing. Got husband involved to stimulate my stomach and make noise and nothing. Normally he will get some kind of kick in the face or something which normally made us laugh... But again nothing. Tried sugary juice, cold drink and putting music on my stomach and still nothing. We were staying with a friend and called their local hospital and was told to come in to check. They told me that they could only listen in to see if there was a heartbeat but nothing else as I wasn't registered with that hospital. They listened and said there was a heartbeat and sounded fine, so I felt reassured and went about my day. Now it's the next morning and I've been laying on my side for 2 hours and still no kicks. Should I be worried? Or heartbeat being "fine" should reassure me enough? Thanks in advance...

Hi
They do triage you yes.. But important not to delay.
If you get a couple of cases of rfm that usually triggers a scan.. they are doing everything correctly though xx

ellesbellesxxx · 30/06/2018 09:35

They do take it seriously though in my experience

JustVent · 30/06/2018 09:45

If you’re really concerned could you book a private scan? I realise that’s not ideal.

Definitely go in, whatever happens.

And flutters at 25 weeks? Please. I had elbows and butts at 25 weeks!

Havetothink · 30/06/2018 11:04

At 25 weeks with an anterior placenta I had flutters, this time like pp arms and legs sticking out, big movements not flutters. Depends on the pregnancy.

Sometimes babies are facing inwards so you would not feel those kicks or movements as much as if they were facing outwards. Or could be the placenta is attached directly under your stomach area which will definitely cushion the movements. I had that with my 2nd and only really felt proper movements from 30 weeks onwards when baby was stronger and bigger and would kick into the ribs. I feel your concern but rest assured if they have the heartbeat it’s probably not all negative. Or you could just have one lazy baby who is hibernating. God bless you.

You should definitely go back to the hospital and tell them you are not happy with the movements at all. Ask them to write this in your notes that you are requesting a scan because you have had no movement in 3 days.
This is more important than anything else going on.

Good luck.

Hope you're OK-I've been thinking of you

Hi OP- I've been quite similar, also 25 weeks and massively reduced movements the last while. I nearly rang on Thursday night but as I lay down to make the call I felt a kick.

I honestly think it's something to do with the hot weather, but because I am feeling some movement, but not as much as before, I'm feeling like it's probably ok. I also am aware there's not much they can do this early on.

I have an anterior placenta and also didn't feel much by way of flutters so my assumption is the baby is moving around but I'm not feeling most of it. I hope all has gone well for you.

Hi all, thanks for all your messages and concern.

So I went in and she checked babies heartbeat for around 3 mins this time (last time was very brief), each time baby was apparently moving away and being active..and heart beat was a consistent around 140 bpm. Great! She also checked the size of my bump which was 24 cm whatever that means.. And then obviously checked on me in the ways of blood pressure, oxygen levels and urine, all OK.

Fast forward to around 6 pm in the evening, I'm sat down eating dinner and I get an almighty boot in my side which slightly surprises me as its maybe the hardest kick I've had....and following that baby had continued to merrily kick me for a few hours.. 🤔 😂

Ah well, I guess it's all on babies terms... Haha.
