So I'm on my way to asda , what should I buy for my hospital snack bag as I know a lot of people regretted not taking food with them and I would hate to be one of those 😂 What's the best things to buy? I'm 38 weeks so it's coming very soon

Belvita chocolate chip bakes, Special K or Tracker bars, Lucozade. Not chocolate - the wards are so warm at the moment it will end up all melted.

I packed lots of healthy things like I would for a long trail run (dried fruit, nuts etc). I didn’t touch them. My sister (birth partner) brought chocolate covered raspberry marshmallows and they were manna from heaven Wink

Dried fruit, will help with the first post birth poo as an added benefit!

Bluebirdsky · 29/06/2018 19:16

Jelly babies, yoghurt coated raisins, dried apricots, cereal bars

prayerforasungod · 29/06/2018 19:16

an orange

Bbqueen is right about dried fruit for post-birth poo though. And if they offer you laxatives, take them! I didn’t and the resulting constipation was more painful than labour. (Should’ve had fruit as well as sweeties, probably)

Cheese thins, gooey flapjack bars, unfortunately fresh fruit and chocolate get too hot and go off very quickly. Dried fruit, banana chips.

My husband had to keep going out to get Lucozade from the hospital shop, it was recommended by the midwife, I think it was because there was ketones in my urine

bowgumdrop2018 · 29/06/2018 20:13

@niknac1
The lucozade sport drink or the fizzy one ?

niknac1 · 29/06/2018 20:49

It was just the normal lucozade

niknac1 · 29/06/2018 20:50

Fizzy

Chocolate buttons, dried apricots and cereal bars covered the main bases for me. I also packed a couple of those long life tuna salad meals as my first time round I missed a lot of meal times...

randomsabreuse · 29/06/2018 20:57

Savoury things - jerky, mini salami. Got sick of cereal bars and sweet stuff with my first and the gap between dinner and breakfast feels endless when you have 2 hourly obs followed by 2 hourly feeds. Ward dinner was about 6pm, (I missed it) breakfast nearly 8am...

Oysterbabe · 29/06/2018 20:58

Tuc biscuits. I got sick of sweet stuff and it's good to have something to replace some salts after a sweaty labour.

bluechameleon · 29/06/2018 21:03

I took chocolate chip brioche rolls which were good as they are quite filling. I was bought dark chocolate lindor which were great for giving a quick sugar boost when I was struggling to stay awake during night feeds.

TwinkleMerrick · 29/06/2018 21:13

I had a craving for Pringles, made My fella get me some and scoffed em' so quickly Grin

Calphurnia · 29/06/2018 21:16

Get a good cool bag or box & freeze some bottles of water. Get them out one at a time as needed so they stay super cold.

Jelly babies

Whatever your carby comfort is when poorly for after, so tinned tomato soup & a cheese sandwich on white bread or send our for chips

MyOtherUserNameIsAUnicorn · 29/06/2018 21:20

Lucozade sport! Definitely!

Rozzzzzalmost35 · 29/06/2018 22:03

Didn't have time to eat anything, though I think I had a few sips of lucozade!
