Anyone else baby not as active in the heat?

Hi!

I am 27 weeks with my 3rd. I have never been pregnant across the summer before so never had to deal with this heat.
Baby has been really active for the past 8 weeks or so but yesterday I went to triage for reduced movement and some cramping.
Typically, as soon as I was placed on the monitor, baby started moving normally again. After a check from the doctor, all was fine and I was sent home.
I am having the same again today though. I am getting some movement but not as much as I usually do. So my question is, can babies become less active because of the heat?

I ended up at the hospital for reduced movements on Monday and asked something similar. They suggested it might be down to me being dehydrated.

I’ve been necking water like a pro for the rest of the week and LO seems to be back to her usual active self so I wonder if it could be that?

Could it be due to how you were sitting in the hospital?

It could be as I've been very active the past few days. I've taken myself upstairs with some water to see if that helps. I will try and replicate the hospital bed on my bed.

Cool

I'm not sure but I also ended up in triage on Monday with baby being monitored. There were three of us with virtually identical due dates there at the same time. I thought mine was caused by stress but could easily have been the heat instead. I've had less movements today as well but as soon as I got home baby started having a party in there. It's definitely cooler in my house than at work you might be into something:

Keep an eye and get checked if you feel its reduced overall, but PP is right that dehydration can cause it.
I had hyperemesis so was dehydrated a lot and each time I had IV fluids my movements increased a lot.

Saying that, dehydration is only a possible cause so definitely don't put it down to that and not get checked if it continues.

Also if you get it checked and it's fine you still need to get it checked if it happens again, its common for people to be in multiple times especially towards the end so don't feel like your bothering them its always worth getting it checked.

I’m 24 weeks and yes, I think you might be right about the heat. Wednesday was really hot and she didn’t move as much but today I stayed cool and drunk iced water and she’s kicked non stop.

Happy to say that Dutchy's tip worked and after laying in a hospital like position for a while and drinking a lot of water I have my active baby back!
