Double buggy?

Can anybody recommend a double buggy? Prefer the stacked ones to side by side for ease of manoeuvring, I think. Though I don't know having never used one so correct me if that's not the case. One seat needs to hold quite a hefty toddler so a good weight capacity also essential. Very grateful for any heads up

I found the stacked ones far to heavy with a toddler too. I gave about my out n about nipper v4 double. I've used it for the past 18 months, I'll still be using it up until this baby is born and then I'll be still using it then for the smallest two for another year or so. It's 72cm wide so I've never had an issue with doorways so moving it around. It's so easy to push and very light too.

Another vote for the nipper, absolutely brilliant pram. Held my 4 year until last month, he was the height and weight of a six year old though!
Easy to get on and off buses/train and lies super flat, my DS's loved it because it felt nice and protected because of how deep the seats are

BJCM twin. Has big seats, one handed fold, easy to push, fits through standard doors.

I didn't like any of the stacked ones I tried and it always looks like the child in the bottom gets a raw deal. I have twins so tested A LOT of doubles. Nipper is also good.

Great info, thank you. Will check these out now

I have the mountain buggy duet and love it. It's the narrowest side by side and I'm yet to meet a door we can't easily get through. I don't like the stacked ones, it's shit for the kid on the bottom and there's nowhere to put your shopping.

I have the iCandy Peach and it has been absolutely perfect up until now, my son was 2 in April and my daughter was 1 in March and it's just started to get too heavy to push. I will say that it fits in the boot perfectly, folds down easily and fits around most shops with ease.

I also have a mountain buggy. It has a really good turning circle (can pretty much do it on the spot). I have my 4 month & 2 year old in with no problems. It also has a good basket space for shopping.

Bugaboo donkey. Second hand (damn things cost a fortune but they are excellent.)

Stacked ones are really, really hard to manoeuvre with anything more than two tinies in.

The babyjogger side by side is good too.

OhBergine · 28/06/2018 18:11

I have the iCandy (it's stacked). No problems with manoeuvrability and can still use the basket. Double ones seem a pain to me and just seem to block the pavement.

I loved my icandy peach. Take a look at the following;

Icandy peach
Icandy orange
Phil and reds sport
Uppababy vista

If you do decide to think about side by side ones, the donkey is fab. Same width as a wheelchair, so not as much of an issue when out and about as you'd think. Lovely to push and converts back to single and width goes down to 60cm when single. Fab side basket for all your bits too. Plus the bugaboo buggy board is fab.

PotteringAlong · 28/06/2018 18:19

I had a Phil and Teds sport. Was great, I loved it! It’s stacked.

SaltyLemons · 28/06/2018 18:33

Thanks all, this is so helpful and it's gonna save me so much time!

Absolutely love our Jane Powertwin Pro. Great if you want inline as opposed to side by side but not stacked. Converts for a tiny one by adding the car seat facing you at the back and very easy to manoeuvre. Great off road and fits in the boot easily if you take the quick release wheels off.

PurdysChocolate · 29/06/2018 03:31

I have an Uppababy Vista. It has a high weight limit for the main seat (~23kg). My favourite thing about it is the huge basket, I can fit so much stuff in there!

redhappydance · 29/06/2018 11:53

Look at the icandy orange, it's amazing!!!

I love the basket too because when you only need your youngest in the pushchair it doubles up as a buggy board without having to do any weird straddle walk! They just hop on inside the handle bars.
