Meeting with consultant at 10 I'm so worried ( induction)

So I've posted about this before but 2 weeks or so ago basically I'm 37+5 and have had 5 lots of reduced movements since 25 weeks that I have called triage for 4 of those being after 32 weeks.. I have been going in for everyday monitoring (ctg) since the 19th of this month up untill yesterday the 27th to have reassurance and it's what the consultant put in place for the appointment today and put of those 9 days I have 4 normal movement days and the rest was reduced ... the idea of today was the give a sweep but given the more reduced movements do you think they will talk induction instead? I've been up since 6 and baby has moved once today and it's really starting to take its weight on me now emotionally and mentally . I spoke to the midwifes up triage yesterday and they seem to think they will induce and said if the decision was theirs they would but obviously we know it's not ...in the ideal world I would be more than happy going to my due date as it's not far at all but it's not the ideal world as my baby just isn't moving I want her safe now 😔 Is there anything I can say to the consultant to help push this?

I was monitored due to reduced movements from 31 weeks, after daily monitoring in week 33 and some less than ideal ctgs bang on 34 weeks I was induced, and ended up with baby at 34+1. I can see no reason why they wouldn’t induce you now. Just explain to the consultant that this is unacceptable now especially with the ctgs not being reassuring. Have they done any Doppler scans to check the placenta etc? If not demand them! Let us know how you get on

The consultant isn't going to induce me as he looked through all the ctgs and is happy with her progress basically ! I said even though the amount of reduced movements I've had surely that should mean something and he said maybe the baby just has an attitude and doesn't like moving as much now! I'm so angry I feel he didn't take it seriously they gave me a sweep and said the front part of my cervix is slightly open I just feel so worried now

@Thetimehascometo
I've had two scans for reduced movements and placenta is functioning fine and is towards the back

Hi

This is the guideline that Obstetricians generally follow about reduced movements, you can read the key points to see if what your Consultant has recommended follows the guideline. Obviously they aren't compelled to follow guidelines and there may be a good reason to deviate from them at times, but it's good to get an idea of what is usually recommended.

www.rcog.org.uk/en/guidelines-research-services/guidelines/gtg57/

You can ask for a second opinion from another Obstetrician.

Also I would definitely continue to attend the hospital for any further episodes of reduced movements.

I read the guideline quite a long time ago so do read it yourself to check I've remembered correctly (I can't download now as poor connection), but my understanding is that there is still a small increase in stillbirth rate even if all investigations are reassuring (ctg, ultrasound). So usually options of induction or waiting with monitoring are discussed.

If you want to discuss induction again I'd ask to see another doctor for a second opinion. It sounds like the midwives support your opinion so I'd ask before you leave today how a second opinion can be had asap.

How are you getting on @bowgumdrop2018 have you asked for a second opinion? Or been in for reduced movements again. We did find that all consultants have their own opinion on these things. Even whilst I was being induced the consultant on call commented that he probably wouldn’t have chosen to induce me yet (he hadn’t looked through my notes in detail at this point, a flaw we found quite frequently whilst I was in hospital) ... so I do guess it’s luck of the draw.

@Thetimehascometo
Heya I'm still hanging on in there and still pregnant! Due date is in 12 days and they wouldn't get me a second opinion and I haven't been up for reduced movements since my planned monitoring last Wednesday I just want them to get her out now as her movements are just not right but no one is listening to me 😔

@bowgumdrop2018 how horrible ☹️ not long left now though, but be sure to go in if you think something isn't right! The more you go the more likely they are to listen to you I'd have thought. We were pretty fortunate I guess that the CTG the first time we went up wasn't reassuring so from then on in we had a lot of people looking out for us. In an ideal world we didn't want a 34 weeker (my due date was the 11th July so she still shouldn't be here!) but she has done so well for herself and is currently rolling around her Moses basket grunting 🤣

It's so weird cause I was offered an induction after going in for slight reduced movements straight away! Even though the baby and all the checks came back fine. I was at 39+4 when I got induced so maybe that was why. I was really surprised they offered the induction. I took them up on the offer because I was worried about my platelet count dropping.. They were getting close to 100. I kinda wish I'd waited as I would have loved a natural birth and the induction led to a c-section. That might have happened with natural labour but I'll never know. And I'm glad I got to meet my daughter then and not later.

All the best and I hope you get to meet your baby soon!
