Hi so after going into hospital today with reduced movements I'm being induced on Friday, it's been a rough pregnancy so had many hospital visits. I'm currently 40+3 weeks so I'm overdue. Anyone got any advise? I'm so excited to finally meet my little girl but getting very scared too

Take plenty to do as it can be a very long process and try to stay calm, I am sure stress slows things up, you will be fine, stay positive and you will soon meet your daughter

Take ear plugs as the induction ward can be noisy! Also it will possibly take a while do books, magazines etc to keep yourself entertained.

Also, if you’re having the pessary for 24 hours don’t be shy to ask to be examined if you think things are moving along (they may wait 24 hours before examining you).

If you get as far as the drip and think you will want an epidural, insist on it before they put the drip in.

And remember there are lots of positive induction stories! Best of luck!

Keep as active as you can as long as possible between now and during your labour. Get that baby moving down to avoid intervention. It may seem difficult but I kid you not, the walking got rid of all my pain then returned every time I stopped. Have a nice deep chat with your birthing partner about anything and everything whilst you do. If you can use a birthing ball then do! I opted for an epidural right before they put me on the hormone drip (due to the labour not progressing enough) as I heard it made contractions extremely painful and it was the best thing I did - I felt fine and just days after giving birth I went out for a long walk.

If you do have any birth plan, make sure you give it in before you're induced or mention you have one in your notes, have your birthing partner enforce if it is what you want to stick to but they are your eyes, ears and mouth. It'll be OK, be open to it not going how you want though, be realistic and have no preconceptions.

Forgot, be careful if you have a pessary, mine fell out twice when I did a wee and I had to wait hours for the next because of guidelines. I was in for days!

Both my babies were induced. As soon as they say you can get up and go for a walk do it! Keep moving and active. The people who make themselves comfortable and stay in bed were always there longest.
And take snacks and drinks. Hospital food is crap and they won't feed your partner...
