Hot, itchy boob at 26 weeks! Anyone else?

I am 26 weeks and have had itchy boobs on and off throughout pregnancy (the glamour!).

But for the past couple of weeks my right boob is driving me mad! Unbearably itchy and hot. I am rubbing bio oil on it and laying cold, wet flannels over it when I can arghhh.

Is this just pregnancy? Or something more sinister? Anyone else?

Ooh sounds unpleasant. Do you have any rashes or anything there?

It sounds pretty hormone, heat and stretching related but if you’re concerned see your GP.

Thanks for your reply, yes the skin is a bit inflamed and now broken where I have scratched it in my sleep, I think!
Will mention it to the midwife at my appointment, I think. Hope it's just hormones in the heat.

Until I saw this thread title I had completely forgotten about the itchy boobs! I had them LOADS when I was pregnant, take an antihistamine, preferably cetrazine!

TinyTerror1 · 27/06/2018 08:01

Don't take any antihistamines without advice from your doctor or midwife. I don't think they are recommended in pregnancy!

I have had very itchy boobs and have been using e45 itch relief cream. Not sure about hot to the touch - is it localised? If so it could be a blocked milk duct. Check with your midwife.

Am currently 19w and my itchy boobs and nipples are driving me to distraction. They’re currently covered in scratch marks!

Hard to have a good discreet scratch at work as well 😂

I had this for about a fortnight. I found that anti-histamine creme (the insect bite stuff) works well but used it quite sparingly and then used sudocreme too. I think what stopped it was using palmers tummy butter twice a day for a week as I think it was caused by the skin stretching, but it doesn't do much for the itch short term. My good maternity bra has gone a funny colour though!!

Thanks all! Midwife said pretty much the same thing. I will try some of that cream as well.
Cold flannels it is!
