So I have had a short cycle since having DD#2 usually around 26 days. In May LMC start date was May 9th and I got a BFP on June 1st - which was super early.

I went for a very early scan today and there was only a gestational sac visible and rather than being 6w6d like my dates the doctor measured 5w5d hence the emptiness. He wasn't concerned said I must have ovulated late.

But it's playing on my mind... how could I get a BFP so early and still only be measuring 5w5d?

I've a blighted ovum in the past so that's playing on my mind Sad

This happened to me, I have longer cycles and went to the EPU following some bleeding at what I thought was 6 weeks. Initial scan showed nothing but my levels continued to rise the next scan showed a yolk and sac I was dated just over 5 weeks. I was so anxious due to previous MC and waited 2 weeks for the next scan which showed a little bean with a heartbeat. The nurse said that they don't get too worried or specific about dates at this stage that will come at the 12 week scan.

Are they taking your bloods and are you booked in for another scan?

Yeah scan booked in for 3 weeks time as I'm on holidays from next week for two weeks. Too soon next Monday before I go.

No bloods taken yesterday but I had a beta test done right at the start that showed my numbers doubling in 48hrs.

Agh the stress!! And the waiting Confused

It's possible that you ovulated late, but implanted early.

However, I have seen a lot of people who have been for early scans say that the dates don't match up at that stage.

In 3 weeks they should be able to give you a more accurate date.
