Food aversions....when will it end?!

I've had massive aversions to basically all food except bread type foods and plain crisps since about 6 weeks (currently 13+4). The nausea and sickness is loads better now but the aversions are still going strong.

I was just wondering when this ended for others? At the moment it feels never ending and I'm so bored of it!

You could be typing as me! I had previously had a very healthy diet and suddenly even thinking of vegetables made me feel sick to the point of gagging. I lived on peanut butter crumpets and s&v crisps!

At about 14 weeks I realised I could look at the veg bit of the fridge without any strong effects, and now at 20 weeks, I'm back on the salads and so happy!

Crossing everything it's not too much longer for you. Xx

I was 14 weeks on Tuesday and it was like someone flipped a switch. I’ve managed all sorts of normal meals this week (and have eaten loads of fruit and veg to compensate for the last couple of months!)

I had hyperemesis and actually spent some time in hospital.
The dairy aversion stayed with me until an hour after dd was born.
Sorry.

Around 13 weeks for me too. However, in my last pregnancy I struggled with meat and fish for most of the pregnancy- I could only really stomach chicken and prawns.

Also struggling with eggs and very greasy food.

I struggled until after my DD was born, I lived off spicy chicken and super noodles throughout my pregnancy with the odd Big Mac Blush

Thanks all, you've given me some hope! Maybe a really daft question but how did you know when it was over?! Did you suddenly fancy the foods you used to like or did you force yourself to try them and work out they were OK?

@bellinisurge sounds like you had a really tough time! I'm so thankful I've NOT had hg, I've struggled to cope with the sickness and nausea so I'd have been broken!

@coffeekittens oh no that's not fun. At least they have some flavour though I guess!

Mine went away gradually, I would say from about 12-18 weeks. During those weeks less and less foods bothered me and eventually I was quite happy going back to eating what I would normally eat. I don’t think I ever made myself try to eat something to see if I still had an aversion to it - it just kind of went away.

guiltynetter · 24/06/2018 19:25

mines only just going, at 28 weeks 😱

Nad1122 · 24/06/2018 20:13

Mine went away gradually. I enjoy thinking about food and planning meals, so I knew thinks were looking up when I could think about food and not gag. There were a couple weeks of texting my husband from work about a meal I fancied, him excitedly preparing a meal that wasn't crumpets and then me coming home to only wanting... crumpets! Bless him. I felt terrible but never forced myself as I would probably have felt worse if I hadn't been able to keep it down. After a couple of weeks of that I was back to normal eating.

Glad I'm not the only one!

Prior to this I ate a low carb diet, I've survived the last 9 weeks on beige carbs... feel like a whale.

Meat I've particularly struggled with.
