I have my cousins wedding in august, i will be 37 weeks pregnant and it's a whole day event. I am a FTM

  1. Am I crazy thinking that I'll make it to the whole thing?
  1. Any helpful suggestions of what to wear as I have no idea.

I’m 38 weeks and could probably manage it.. lots of sitting down and no tight clothing 😂 id go for a nice stretchy maxi dress that shows off your beautiful bump but skins over big pants etc! Comfy and pretty? X

ClangerTwanger · 24/06/2018 11:27

Sorry that should say skims not skins Grin

userabcname · 24/06/2018 11:30

If all is well you should manage fine. I was at work full time until 38 weeks. I would recommend comfortable shoes, possibly in a size larger than your usual - my feet and ankles were very swollen towards the end of pregnancy.

Loonyluna16 · 24/06/2018 11:32

I was thinking a light maxi dress, makes things a bit easier if I dance myself into labour 😂 @clangertwanger x

Asos maternity do some lovely dresses peeect for weddings and very comfy!

Nothisispatrick · 24/06/2018 11:33

I would also recommend Asos, I got my bridesmaid dress from there.

Loonyluna16 · 24/06/2018 11:36

@katnissk I've been living in flip flops recently with the heat I've been swelling up like a balloon, all seems to be going well for now, I'm hoping to make it. If I can't be there the whole day I'd like to at least be at the ceremony x

I'd go for a maxi dress too.

Loonyluna16 · 24/06/2018 11:37

I never even thought of asos! Off to have a look now! X

Maxi dress and flat sandals. How well do you know the bride/groom? We took our 3 week old new born to a wedding and I was still pretty much nursing an open episiotomy wound but it was fine because they’re really close friends and gave us the key to their on site bridal suite so I could go for a lie down when needed. Can you chat to them and see if there’s anywhere you could go for a sneaky sleep if needed, if you’re hoping to stay all day?

Verbena87 · 24/06/2018 11:48

Also is it local? Could you get to wherever you’re booked to have the baby if you did dance yourself into labour?

Loonyluna16 · 24/06/2018 16:05

@verbena87 she's my little cousin so pretty close to them. The good news is the venue is about 10 mins drive from my house so roughly about 20 mins to the hospital so I am close by. I'm hoping to stay as long as I can. I'm sure she would understand if we couldn't stay for the whole day.

Get some super duper comfy shoes and drink lots of water and I think you’d cope.

I’d try and find a really nice floaty midi dress to keep you cool and you can add a pashmina thing if the heatwave doesnt last!

Icklepickle101 · 24/06/2018 16:12

I found a lovely dress on eBay for a work function when I was 39 weeks. I bought 3 and spent £13 in total so had a few to choose from on the day. Might be worth a look!

Verbena87 · 24/06/2018 17:06

Luna that sounds perfect! You could even go home and come back if needed. I think it’ll be perfect distraction from the ‘is this labour?!’ symptom spotting!

I got a lovely maternity maxi dress from seraphine for a posh do, but pricey but it looks great post partum as well and is nursing friendly so I’ve got quite a bit of wear out of it.

I’m going to a wedding in Spain in September where I’ll be 34 weeks pregnant so no I don’t think your ridiculous! ASOS have a lovely maternity wear occasion section

Verbena87 · 24/06/2018 18:58

River have you sorted a ‘fit to fly’ letter with your GP? I think the airline can ask for one after you’re 28 weeks (flew back from Venice last year just before the cut-off point!)

River93 · 24/06/2018 19:26

Verbena87 Not yet, will get one ready for when the time comes though!!

Verbena87 · 24/06/2018 20:55

Great. Only asked because I hadn’t even realised it was a thing when we were deciding when to go away, and dropped it into conversation with my midwife at an antenatal appointment and she mentioned it. Have a fab time (BIL lives in Spain so we go over quite often, and love it)

MaverickSnoopy · 25/06/2018 06:58

I went to one at 36 weeks pregnant with my first (also in summer). I wore a maxi dress (one size up) and really pretty flip flop type sandals.

I was on crutches so it was quite a bit of effort and was a long day but people were great and let me sit down lots - apart from my normally fantastic and supportive DH who got blind drunk (the hot weather aided this) and then needed me to look after him! Wasn't easy and then I ended up falling over in the toilets and couldn't get up and no one knew I was there....

I say just discuss expectations with your partner first so that you are getting any needs met.

KNain · 25/06/2018 09:19

I went to a wedding when I was 37 weeks with my DS and will be attending another at 38 weeks with this baby. It was fine, there's lots of sitting around at a wedding anyway - sitting during the ceremony, sitting during meal and speeches. And even for the reception and evening do the bride and groom usually have a seating area somewhere.

The one at 37 weeks was a couple of hours from home so we took the car seat and my hospital bag just in case - which actually turned out to be a God send because the hotel didn't have enough towels and we forgot to pack toothpaste - so we just grabbed the ones out of my hospital bag. I'm considering taking a hospital bag everywhere with me now!! Grin

I would love to be pregnant when choosing what to wear for a wedding- no need to wear heels and you can wear something super comfy and stretchy without judgment. I have to say that apart from the fact that it gave me my DS, the thing I loved most about being upduffed was not having to care about how my tummy looked in clothes!
