I set my alarm 30mins before I needed to get up and ate a digestive biscuit lying down in bed.

KitchenFloor · 23/06/2018 21:18

Is it continual nausea or morning only retching? With eldest I had the latter and had to eat toast in bed while lying down and let it settle a few minutes before getting up.

Plain dry Carbs... Crackers, toast, popcorn, plain nuts... You have my full sympathy. Morning sickness is so tough. At 34 weeks I'm finding it much easier than the first trimester I have to say. Be kind to yourself, sleep lots, go to GP if you feel it's making you miserable... They can give pregnancy safe meds.

Orchidflower1 · 23/06/2018 21:54

Flat full fat lemonade
Ditto plain carbs
Travel bands

Hope you feel better soon x

Singadream · 23/06/2018 22:00

Nibble mini cheddars

peterpanwendy · 23/06/2018 22:24

Travel sickness bands were great and eating dry things regularly helped massively but my saviour was ice water slipped through a straw. I feel your pain and hope it passes soon for you!

whoopsiedaisies · 23/06/2018 22:25

Blueberries helped me through the mornings. They were the only thing I could manage! Hope you feel better soon op Smile

sayhellotothelittlefella · 23/06/2018 22:27

Plain hula hoops - godsend
Fanta ( the fizziness makes you burp and funnily enough that helps)

ginandnappies · 23/06/2018 22:28

anti sickness bands helped me massively. A friend of mines had been through chemo and gave me them. Only thing that helped x

FromageAffray · 23/06/2018 22:39

I am a ginger hater too! As @cliffdiver recommends, I kept a stash of digestive biscuits beside the bed and had one before getting up, or DH would kindly bring me a slice of toast. Getting up on an empty stomach definitely set me off for the day 🤢 I kept biscuits in my handbag for emergencies, and a bottle of lemon Fanta on my desk for a sugar hit when needed. I also take my pregnancy supplements at night, as I found the iron in them was making me queasy when taken in the morning. Sickness mostly eased off at about 14 weeks for me thankfully. Hope you feel better soon x

babypsmum · 23/06/2018 22:39

I found sucking a polo mint anytime I had to leave the house really helped with the nausea.

FaithEverPresent · 23/06/2018 22:40

I found I could eat if I had an ice lolly first, about 15 minutes before.

kikibo · 23/06/2018 22:41

Gummy bears or mints, I've heard.

I had success with coke first time round. Fuzziness probably, but coke is good for your stomach because it's sour. Ob wasn't impressed when I told him this time...

bookishtartlet · 23/06/2018 23:08

Eat regularly. Even a couple of bites.

I lived on full fat coke, ready salted crisps and love heart sweeties for about 4 weeks.

Jo160 · 24/06/2018 08:14

Acupressure wrist bands
Never let your stomach get totally empty
Keep a packet of biscuits by your bed to nibble on when you wake up
Keep sipping water
Rest as much as possible

Travel sickness bands did absolutely nothing for me.
I had to eat little and often but only very bland foods. I kept a packet of rich tea biscuits in my back. Even water made me retch. Oh and mint humbugs.

StorminaBcup · 24/06/2018 08:27

Was also going to suggest ritz type crackers and lemonade ice lollies. I hope it passes for you soon Flowers

userabcname · 24/06/2018 08:36

Very cold fizzy water. Resting as much as possible. See GP if it's interfering with day-to-day life.

aldaniti · 24/06/2018 08:40

Sorry Singadream but the thought of eating a mini cheddar has just made me heave 😬

SoyDora · 24/06/2018 08:43

The thought of Fanta makes me want to vom.

Singadream · 24/06/2018 15:54

Sorry @aldaniti. They were my pregnancy go to!

CatMama7 · 24/06/2018 16:54

Hula hoops definitely, and another mini cheddar fan here! Seems to be that plain & salty helps. Plus try not to go hungry between meals as that really sets me off. Eat little & often and keep hydrated.

8+2 here & fed up of the dry heaving & retching!

CatMama7 · 24/06/2018 16:55

Ooh & this heat, I'm loving a Calyppo ice lolly!!

DomesticAnarchist · 24/06/2018 17:13

I researched this a lot with DC2.

The travel bands aren't particularly effective (placebo, which is better than nothing).

Ginger has been shown to be more effective than a placebo in some studies (and as effective as vitamin B6 which is apparently one of the first things GPs will prescribe), but you have to have a certain amount (more than you could get from biscuits or tea). But, I found that that amount equivalent was in some of the pregnancy vitamins (Boots ones, IIRC).

I found that taking these vitamins (any vitamins) at night was better than taking them in the morning.

By far the best thing that I found was avoiding getting tired. Early nights, naps, and very gentle exertion was the way forward. Tiredness = nausea.

I suffered far less wtb DC2 than DC1. I wish I'd seen the GP with DC1 but didn't as I wasn't actually vomiting. But the nausea was crippling.

If nothing's working, please do go and ask for help (and then again and again because you'll likely be dismissed)

DomesticAnarchist · 24/06/2018 17:18

But the best foods were salt & vinegar crisps and orange juice (topped off with rennies, obvs).

You preggos have my sympathy. I couldn't even think about food with DC1. I had to stop DH from asking what I'd like for tea and to just put it in front of me.

Just lie still and wait for it to pass. It's what sunloungers were invented for.
