We haev 2 birds, DH says not to clean them out in case i catch 'something' from their mess.
I know you can catch toxo-whatsit bugs from cats but does this still affect birds?
They really need cleaning out, I was going to do it weekens before last but DH was like no,no.
So is there anyone out there that knows??
(hopeful )

I think your dh should clean them out.

You can catch psticosis (sp) from parrot droppings but I don't know of anything else.

fillyjonk · 24/05/2007 07:47

your dp should clean them out

don't think you can get toxoplasmosis from birds but surely there is no need for your dp to know this?

Google says aslong as the birds are healthy you shouldn't worry too much about touching them etc but as with any exposure to fecal matter be scrupulous in your hygeine and limit exposure if possible. A great excuse to make him do it!

skirmish · 24/05/2007 07:51

don't forget you can't do a lot of housework- hoover, too heavy; bathroom, too many chemicals etc etc

ooohhh lovebirds - thats what sparked off the whole invasion of crows in 'the birds' be very careful!
