Worried about movements with anterior placenta

I am 25 weeks today, I have an anterior plecenta. I dont seem to be getting a routine and some days I feel more movements than others today I have only felt a few and yesterday I felt alot i told my midwife and she said the heartbeat is fine and present and just to keep an eye on it as she heard her kick twice just while checking the heartbeat and I didn't feel it so she thinks shes active but I'm just not feeling it because of the placenta. But I'm worried as it's usual to have a rountine by now. Tried having a cold drink and got a few movements but not much. Anyone got any advice of similar experiences of this or different amount of movements per day or when they got a routine with an anterior placenta? Any responses appreciated.

Oh it’s so hard isn’t it? I’m 37 weeks with an anterior placenta and it took AGES to have a proper routine. I’d say much closer to 25-27 weeks. I noticed baby is generally very quiet at night (please say they’re asleep and that this will continue out of the womb...) and gets much more kicky when I sit down after a long day. It’s a totally different pregnancy than with my first when I felt him
Constantly and does really depend on position.
Having said all of that if at ANY point you’re worried go and get checked. They would rather see you 100 times than not see you the one time you need checking.

No advice as such but I’m 37+6 with anterior placenta and have been in hospital today because I can’t feel movement but when I’m CTG monitor / scan earlier I can see him moving all over the place. Is really frustrating (I’m having to stay overnight this time because it’s my 3 episode in a month) but my main advice would be if you’re worried call your labour ward / triage they will always be happy to check you for reassurance

I started to get a “pattern” around 30+ weeks but still don’t really feel kicks per day just rolls and pushes 🤷🏻‍♀️

I had an anterior first time, posterior this time. I’m 25 weeks tomorrow. I’m not sure if I ever felt a routine with DD. I basically would do the chill out/cold drink thing until I felt her move a good 10+ times, usually took less than 20 minutes (even though it was old advice at the time, it reassured me). I think it’s VERY easy to miss movements when you are busy or running around, especially with an anterior placenta. Maybe just set aside some time a few times a day to focus on movements and see if it helps reassure you?
I almost feel like I have a decent routine this time round already. Saying that until this week maybe I would still have quiet days. The guidance about routine and monitoring usually recommends from 28 weeks, if I recall correctly. I would try not to worry, but if you are get checked!

36+2 with anterior placenta here and whilst I'm now fairly confident with baby's routine, I'd say it took to about week 28-30 to really start to understand it, so I think at 25 weeks it's still a little early to know a pattern. Advice does say that it's between 28 & 32 weeks when you should know baby's pattern anyway, regardless of placenta.

At 25 weeks, I think I just felt safe in the knowledge that if I felt movements every couple of hours or so, everything was OK.

Had anterior placenta with my first and honestly baby never had a routine. Some days busy, some days quiet. If she had a busy day one day I might expect a quiet day to follow but really nothing I could pin down as routine.

Thetimehascometo · 23/06/2018 00:17

I had an anterior placenta and reduced movements. I didn’t really start to feel anything until 25 weeks and then it never really developed a pattern, I was just advised that this may well be the baby’s pattern- to not have one. I was told any concerns to get down to triage.

Week 32 comes and no movements so off we go... thinking I was paranoid! Baby fails to meet criteria on CTG after 2 hours! Was kept in hospital for a week due to repeated CTG failures and some interesting scan results, eventually released with follow up daily ctgs, all went well for a week then it was a follow up Doppler scan, baby had been quiet that morning, turns out there was an issue with its placenta... boom, induction, 34 weeker is into the world.

Moral of the story... follow your instincts, I whole heartedly expected to be at the hospital about an hour for the initial ctg... that was not the case. As the consultant told me when the decision was being made to induce ‘baby’s die’ and you’re the one who can try and prevent this.

Sorry that turned into self therapy 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hi I’m 25 weeks+3 with an anterior placenta and my baby doesn’t have a routine. It’s my first one so nothing to compare it to but I only notice the kicks when I’m sat very still and relaxed or when I’m lying down. Whenever I have scans (which are every 2/3 weeks as my baby has downs) it’s moving about like crazy, so I’ve just put it down to the anterior placenta or otherwise being too busy to notice x

29 weeks. Anterior placenta. Been in to MAU twice for reduced movements. All okay.

However, I was told to ALWAYS call. Even with an anterior placenta and a baby who loves trolling me.

Ob and midwives said they'd rather check and all be okay, than me stay at home and there be an issue.

If you're worried call MAU.

beth251993 · 24/06/2018 21:30

I went to MAU and heartbeat was present so got sent home once my heart rate and blood pressure returned to normal. She started moving late at night, she's also been a bit more active makes me think she has no routine but will always go get checked if I need to and they can actually track movements from Friday
