Bleeding at 14 weeks twins

Hello

Just looking for some support and past experiences. I’m 14 weeks with twins. I’ve had a few red bleeds throughout the pregnancy - 6 weeks, 7 weeks, 9 weeks. I was diagnosed with a hematoma. Since 9 weeks I’ve been having brown blood off and on but nothing too bad and then at my 12 week scan they couldn’t see the hematoma. But at 14 weeks have started bleeding again - dark red blood. A very quick scan today showed the babies are ok but it is obviously a wait and see.

I have a very sad history - we lost our 7 month old in 2016 and have had early trimester miscarriages.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who can offer any advice or support
X x

Just offering you a hand to hold Startob as you must be very anxious. I'm afraid I can't offer any experience but hopefully this will bump your thread and someone who has been in a similar position will be along shortly. Cake

That's very kind of you RatPoly, thank you xxx

I can't offer any advice either but wanted to say I'm sorry you've gone through such a hard time and I really hope everything works out okay for you!

Hello hun want to give you a hug and just wanted to say you're not alone! I'm 17 weeks with my first and have just got over a 5 week bleed which I went to A&E twice for because I had two lots of dark red gushes I've had two emergency scans which showed baby was fine and happy in there and when I went to discuss growth scans the doctor only then thought she would check my cervix which was closed luckily, they still don't know where the bleed has come from but they have a good idea that it had come from intercourse which had burst blood vessels up there which caused the heavy bleeding.

I would suggest getting someone to have a look at your cervix as I know there is something called a cervical erosion which you can get (sounds worse than what it is) I believe its something to do with the cells but a doctor would be able to tell with a cervical check not only that they will be able to tell you whether it is open or closed xx

Hi Trixie thanks so much for getting back to me and I’m sorry you have been through the stress of this too. It’s so horrible going to the loo and see blood. I will definitely ask about my cervix... it’s so tough when it’s the weekend. The bleeding had got a bit better but has got worse again this evening. Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy.

Surreygirl - thank you so much for your kind words. Means everything x x x

I had five weeks of sometimes heavy bleeding in my only successful pregnancy, also down to a haematoma. DD is now 16 weeks old. I’d had three miscarriages beforehand, so I was terrified all the way through the pregnancy.

I’m so sorry to hear what you’ve been through, but keeping everything crossed for you and the twins. Bleeding can be so frightening but also part of a normal pregnancy. Hang in there. Flowers

Hand holding. I'm 18 weeks with twins and had quite a lot of bleeding in first trimester and spotting into the second. Mine was a SCH and then at my 12 week scan the sonographer said I might have more as one of the placentas is low (don't know why this is????). I've been told to go to A&E if I have heavy bleeding. It sounds like your babies are fine (were you scanned when the bleeding started?) but I know how disconcerting it can be. Don't hesitate to go back if you're worried. I found that once I had been told to expect more bleeding (with both the SCH and the low lying placenta) it was slightly less scary as I knew there could be a non sinister explanation. Still disconcerting though every time it happened. I hope yours resolves very soon.

Cake for you op. I know how scary bleeding can be but I've certainly had it with successful pregnancies. I hope all is well with your babies.

Thanks so much Rodri... how are you doing now? When did it stop completely? Amazing you have got to 18 weeks. Yes had scan and babies seem fine. This bleeding feels a bit different to what I’ve had before - it changes from brown to red all the time. Brown during the day and then I have red when I pee in the evenings and through the night. It’s so hard to manage the anxiety that’s it not the start of something more sinister.

Thank you shotta sheriff... I’m so sorry about your miscarriages. It’s so hard to not be terrified isn’t it. Have you had your baby?

And thank you mother of bears for your reassuring words. X x x

I almost don't want to say it has stopped completely just in case it comes back (it has been so stop-start, the bad bleeding was in first trimester but I've had spotting for weeks). However I think it has been a couple of weeks since the last bleed so I'm hoping that actually might be it! It is very stressful. However common in pregnancy anyway, and I think even more common in twin pregnancies. Still do go back if you feel worried. It would be good to have an actual explanation (I found the anxiety a lot easier to deal with when I was told about the subchorionic haematoma, and also when the sonographer said I might experience some bleeding because of a low lying placenta).

I still felt anxious every time it started but it was slightly less shocking.

Hoping all continues to be well with your babies and that the bleeding stops SOON for you.

Startob1 · 26/06/2018 12:16

Thanks Rodri... just come back from another scan where they think it might be coming from a low placenta too. Bleeding still stopping and starting. Here’s to thinking you can relax in the second trimester! I so hope the bleeding stays away for you. Thanks so much for your messages. ❤️
