Thanks milknosugar1.
Nothing happened at all during the birth. Labour was horrific cause i was induced but that's cause i was refused proper pain relief until I was on the Labour ward (a full day later!!) despite having full blown contractions.

I had SPD with my previous pregnancy - grinding in my pelvic bone. This time I had the full range: lower back pain, hip pain, pelvic bone and inner thigh pain and the feeling of a pinched nerve in my right bum cheek 🤔

After I gave birth my back pain got so bad I couldn't lie down on the bed or sit leaning back against the bed when it was raised. Then after 1 day my pelvic bone started grinding so bad I thought I had severely damaged something inside!! I still had my crutches but could no longer lift my legs to walk as my pelvis was in so much pain and just felt really unstable!!
The week I spent in hospital after the birth, I spent the time day and night, mostly sitting on the edge of the bed near the cot so I could see to my baby when she needed me cause it was too painful trying to get on and off the bed and standing was horrific!! This led to severe edema in my legs (swollen like fat tree trunks!!) and had to get checked for dvt's.
Physio came to see me on the ward, same one I saw when I was 7 months pregnant at the hospital SPD class. She then told me SPD can take up to 6 months to heal completely but should see lots of improvement after 6 weeks tho (which I have to be fair).
Not the best experience lol and a total shocker!!

I was bed bound with pre-eclampsia for 2 weeks in hospital leading up to the birth, I wonder if the constant sitting in bed maybe did something 🤔

I haven't heard of anyone else having it worse after the birth so I'm assuming it must be rare xx

Had my physio telephone consult today. They have emailed some core strengthening exercises and basically said there is not much more they can do.

So I am just beginning the summer hols, have reached the end of the road with treatment and only just beginning the third trimester. Woohoo!

Been on holiday for a week and the pain has been loads better. So resting is definitely helping. I think I will just go really slow with work when I get back. I do have a tendency to push myself too hard.

Hey ladies,

I know I had my baby but thought I'd share some stuff that helped me. Crutches are a b@#ch but make such a difference!! I know someone posted about them before but OMG helped so much!! I was embarrassed to use them for ages until the pain got so bad I was forced to, and I wished I had used them much sooner!! Took the pressure off my pelvis while walking. As for in bed, I bought a 12ft U-shaped pillow which was amazing as it kept me in whatever position I needed to be in, be it on my side (leg over 1 side, back supported by the other) or towards the end easier to sit up with the middle of the pillow supporting my back with the two ends curled under my knees raising them (easing the weight on my pelvis).
I was finishing my uni exams by the end, I got restless legs REALLY bad and stopped sleeping, it was too sore to sit down and excruciating to stand... I hope you ladies find ways that help you.

Btw, if like me you do spend weeks unable to sleep cause of the pain... It definitely helps when baby comes!! Getting 3 hours sleep at night with my daughter here, I feel like I get so much sleep I feel awesome!! So don't panic about lack of sleep when baby comes 😉 I've only just started to feel tired and she is now 5 weeks old.

Good luck ladies, it's only a wee while longer, and as soon as your beautiful wee baby is in your arms you will forget everything and be so energized!! It's worth the pain, every bit xx
