Recommendations please. My iron levels are borderline so i have another blood test in 4 weeks. I would quite like to boost the levels without tablets so what should my diet consist of please?

Red meat, leafy dark green veg and fortified foods such as some breakfast cereals.

I ate spinach. Savoy cabbage. Black pudding. Red meats like beef. Soya beans. Dark chocolate. Beans and pulses are good too. But I remember being told that it not just the iron levels in food, its vitamin C too to help your body absorb the iron more effectively too.

My midwife mentioned all the above as per PP but also stated parsley is one that is full of iron and can be added to most dishes.

Weetabix (it's low sugar)/other fortified cereals. Steak, leafy greens and strawberries (vitamin C) for dessert.

Thank you!

Try floradix liquid too, it's made from vegetable extracts and boosts iron levels naturally. I haven't had any side effects from it like you get with iron tablets.

Yes - drink a glass of orange juice with your meals to help absorption.

Avoid drinking tea for an hour before or after a meal as that hinders absorption.

Apricots. When you have something iron rich, eg make an effort with breakfast, dont have milk or tea or coffee. These will stop the absorption of iron. A glass of orange juice instead asmentioned above.
