Hi, I've tried to read the Burgundy book on this and my brain is sludge. Was wondering if someone could help clarify.

I've been employed at my school since late Feb on a temporary contract, moving to a permanent one in September. I've just found out I'm pregnant, due early Feb, so I won't have worked there for a year by the time I'm 15 weeks before due date.

Am I entitled to SMP? I think it says I am but not totally sure.

Every contract will be different so we wound need to see the wording

I've attached a screenshot from the NUT burgundy book. I'd say you're entitled to SMP for sure, and you're a category 3 employee. Haven't got time to sift through the info on extra pay in addition to SMP, but hopefully this helps!

Yes you get SMP if you have 26 weeks ' continuous service at the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth

You may also be entitled to contractual maternity pay (although you need to return to work). You need a year' s continuous service at the 11th week beforeEWC, and but continuous service means any service in the same LA, it doesn't need to be with the same school (but not academies unless they've agreed to honour it)

Sorry, just seen the pic didn't attach. It was an old version of the burgundy book anyway, but I hope you feel reassured you will qualify for SMP. Ask your HR department nearer the time what else you're entitled to!

Thank you very much all!
