Hemorrhoid Hell

First time I’ve ever posted,
I’m now 30weeks pregnant, and I’ve been suffering with worsening hemorrhoids for the past 2 1/2 weeks. It even hurts to walk with them.
It’s not diet/constipation related, I haven’t had any particular issue with that so no amount of prune juice is going to fix this!

The pharmacist refused to give me anything , I snuck back and bought some anusol cream, as I’ve seen from other posts that this seems to work for other sufferers. However this has made didly squat difference and they’ve actually got much worse.
Spoke to the dr, she is reluctant to prescribe me anything, as no treatments are licensed for pregnancy (its unethical to complete product testing on pregnant women). And she also said nothing is usually that effective anyway, except giving birth! (She did suggest a salt bath, but we don’t have a bath in the house..not sure DH would be keen on me using the kitchen sink!)

Here’s hoping one of you lovely ladies might have some suggestions?

The thought of suffering for another 10weeks has had me in tears more than one occasion .

Get some of the anusol suppositories. I get them on Amazon. I find them better as they can treat further up the back passage where the problem may be (rather than at the entrance). You can also get ones with anaesthetic but those are prescription and I’ve only had them post labour do not sure I’d use them till then.

I think it’s disgraceful the dr and pharmacist not giving you some medication. Many dr’s would treat you. Many women use anusol in pregnancy on the advice of their dr.

If you’ve ANY constipstion at all, sort that out pronto! (I found lots of water and a tub of cut fruit a day helped).

I read some advice on here when I was suffering and it helped a bit. Are they external or internal? I wasn’t sure with mine but this helped quite a lot:
Germoloids cream with lidocaine - internal applicator and a generous amount. Go and lie down for half an hour on your side to allow it to work. Cold gel pack externally, sort of wedged in between your bum cheeks. When you have a shower if you can gently push them back in with a soapy finger and then put your cream in afterwards. It’s awful, I do sympathise.

Gosh yes suppositories forgot about them yes they are brilliant.

I get piles every so often
Oowwwww i feel for you op. So damn painful. Keep the area clean as poss, i think there are wet wipes you can use. Fingers crossed you find a cure

Suggested to me by a doctor - break up some ice cubes, put them in a freezer bag and hold them against the haemhoroids...yes a bit grim holding a bag of ice there but doing this a couple of times a day can really shrink them.

Thank you so much,
I’ll try the suppositories from Amazon (save me running the gauntlet at boots!)
considering this is a common problem I just wanted to check with you all first.. the pharmacist inferred it could harm the baby and the gp wouldn’t advise one way or the other (Although the midwife suggested I speak to her to get a prescription)

And I’ve already bought the wet wipes, what a difference..considerably less uncomfortable to use than paper!!

Well nobody can really give you a straight answer there but I will say I used germoloid suppositories at least once a day for the last 15 weeks and my 10lb was absolutely fine. Only you can make that decision though.
