am 30+ preg and been doing a lot around the house - but this is very small and has many confined spaces..

been wondering - does lots of forward/deep bending (even though it doesn't cause too much discomfort) actually cause any harm to the baby??

i sometimes forget am preg (believe it or not) and suddenly think - "oh why do I feel so tight around the belly - oh damn have just squashed the little one!!!"....

are have I?

and then I get all panicky...as surely I must have squashed the LO - it looks so obviously tight in there with so little space when I find myself bent down on my knees!! argh!!

No - actually, I think it's very good for optimal positioning of the baby so bend away!

Really?? I feel as if my ribs are squashing the LO right down when I bend!!

oh yes and you always here how heavily preg women should NOT bend down and do this and that etc...... as it is bad for them hence my query!

you cannot squash your baby by bending down

try bending at the knee, that might be more comfortable

as mumpbump said , it is good for OFP..well, being on all fours, scrubbing floors and the like!!

your baby is still cushioned by fluid, membranes and uterus, so even if it feels tight for space, your baby is not going to be hurt by you bending

Mumpbump · 23/05/2007 12:15

Well, I was scrubbing floors and similar just before ds was born and it did no harm. I am sure I remember our NCT antenatal teacher saying that it was good and have found this article which seems to confirm it...

I think it's lifting heavy things that is bad, not the bending itself...
