Slow Leaking waters or discharge?

Currently 40 + 6 weeks
Had a few occasions yesterday where I felt wet so went to the toilet to find a wet patch on underwear. It was really thin, had no smell and had no real substance to it. It only happened a couple of times but my question is, is it slow leaking waters (its not a constant leak) or is this just a lot of thin discharge?

My waters went in gushes but I thought I'd wet myself haha!

For me my waters were yellowish sort of like straw, no clear smell. The biggest giveaway is if you lie down still for 30 minutes, stand up and feel a trickle. I did it 3 times before I went and got checked and I was still convinced I was peeing myself haha!

If ever in doubt, your local midwives will check you out! Best to be certain Smile good luck!

I would also recommend calling the midwife to check. If your waters have broken then they will want to get you 'started' within 24 hours as there's a risk of infection.

I had this a few times over the days leading up to my waters fully breaking...then it was a gush. I was told more likely to be discharge. They will usually inspect you and check cervix to see if it is labour.

Please phone your midwife just in case it is your waters leaking slowly.

I had something similar when I was 38w where I was leaking small amounts. I was sure it was my bladder (as apparently your waters have a distinctive "sweet" smell which this didn't have). Stupidly I waited 3 days until I went and got it checked. It turned out it was my waters going. They admitted me immediately, gave me antibiotics to ward off any infection and put me on the drip to speed up labour. I was already 4cm and hadn't felt a single contraction when they admitted me.

My DD arrived 3 hours later. Fortunately everything was ok, but please get it checked out. Incidentally my waters were still mainly in tact - the consultant broke them to speed up labour - but it looked like they were leaking from high up.
