Hey all, another 'I'm totally fed up of being pregnant post'

I'm 38 weeks now and the last couple of days I've been having low back pain, pelvic pain where bubs head is, alot of braxton hicks (not painful just uncomfortable) bump has dropped slightly and I've felt sick randomly many times a day. I'm not getting my hopes up at all though as no mucus plug or show yet and I don't feel as though it's going to happen anytime soon, but that's probably because my first was so late!

Anyway, I had a growth scan at 36+5 and baby was measuring 6.8 pounds. My first was 12 days late and weighed 7.13 so I'm really worried about this one going through to induction as I could be looking at a 9 pound plus baby if they apparently gain half a pound a week!!

So I was just curious, were you as late with your second as you were your firsts if you were late? And if so, what was the difference is size?

I tore quite badly with my first, so I'm now petrified about having a huge baby and tearing worse!

Thanks if you read all that.

6 days late with my first- 7lbs 12oz
2 days late with my second- 8lbs 8oz

SoyDora · 17/06/2018 19:23

Oh and my second birth was far easier and less painful than my first, despite the bigger baby! No tearing with my second.

mrsb06 · 17/06/2018 19:25

1st baby - a week early, 7lb 12oz - 3rd degree tear.
2nd baby - 3 days late, 9lb - no tearing. Water birth.

There really is no rhyme or reason to any of it in my opinion.

mustbemad17 · 17/06/2018 19:26

4 days late with DD at 7lbs 14oz - 4 hour labour, some tearing

8 days late with 2nd at 7lbs 14oz - 2 hour labour, some tearing & very intense

Currently on day 9 with DS 😣 MW reckons he will be in the 8lbs region. Little sod won't move out 🙈

bakebakebake · 17/06/2018 19:26

Baby 1 - 39+6 and 7lb 1
I was cut as he was coming too fast so needed stitches.

Baby 2 - 41+4 and 7lb 10
she tore through baby 1 stitches so I needed to be restitched.

Baby 3 - 41+3 and 8lb12!
No tearing and easiest labour

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 17/06/2018 19:27

First baby... 14 days late, 7 14, small frontal tear. 58 hour labour.

Second baby... 12 days late, 7 15, almost fell out. 27 hour labour.

CoodleMoodle · 17/06/2018 19:27

I'm in roughly the same boat OP!

Currently 35+5 with DC2. Had an awful birth last time (episiotomy and ventouse with no time for the anaesthetic to kick in!). DD was born at 40+6 and was about 7lb 11oz.

Just had a growth scan and DS is looking to be about 6.5lbs so far - definitely looking at 8.5lb+ this time! I've been assured that it's easier the second time in general, and I do appreciate that, but I think if you have a rough first labour you're naturally going to be apprehensive about having DC2. I know I am!

Good luck Flowers

Namechangedforthisss · 17/06/2018 19:29

Late with 2nd, I ended up induced as there was no sign of baby making appearance.

SoyDora · 17/06/2018 19:30

Also, growth scans are notoriously inaccurate!

Namechangedforthisss · 17/06/2018 19:30

Baby was 9lbs 5, was the biggest but easiest labour out the 3 for me.

Lightning88 · 17/06/2018 19:31

Thanks for all the replies everyone! It's comforting to read people have had bigger babies the second time and not as much damage done!

CoodleMoodle - Ahh bless you, I hope your little one doesn't keep you waiting too long! Good luck to you aswell _

7 days late with first. 7lb 12, 2nd degree tear. 5 hours
2nd born on due date, 7lb 3, 1st degree tear. 2.5 hours.

Hoping 3rd comes just before due date to avoid induction. (Am 41 years old, they induce at 40 weeks here).

Jestem · 17/06/2018 20:50

8 days late with DC1 - 6lb 4oz
11 days late with DC2 - 9lb 6oz

I was induced both times and my big baby was no harder to birth than my small one - in fact I tore first time but didn't at all with my second. Really easy recovery.

Also, DC2 was predicted to be 8lb 13oz at a 37 week scan, estimated birth weight 11lbs. Pretty far off their actual weight, I wouldn't set much store by growth scans.

bakebakebake · 18/06/2018 14:36

This time round I had a growth scan at 37 weeks and he was measuring 6lb6.. he went to 41+3 and weighed 8lb12.

PrimeraVez · 18/06/2018 14:40

DC1 was 10lb 3oz at 39+6

Currently 40+1 with DC2 Confused

Lightsong · 18/06/2018 14:43

1st baby - 13 days late, induced & ventouse delivery, no episiotomy but tearing
2nd baby - spontaneous labour on due date Smile

Lightsong · 18/06/2018 14:44

Forgot weights!

Baby 1 - 7lb 8oz
Baby 2 - 7lb 9oz

adviceonthepox · 18/06/2018 14:47

1st was 3 weeks early 6lbs 10oz 3rd degree tear.
2nd 3 days late 8lb 10oz 2nd labour was easier and less painful and no tearing at all!

Girlwiththearabstrap · 18/06/2018 14:58

First baby- 35 weeks, 5lb9
Second baby- 40+12, 8lb 11

Induced with both, first took about 8 hours from waters breaking, second took about 3 hours. Had episiotomies with both but that's largely due to my babies coming back to back and not turning in labour and then getting distressed and needing to come out quick!

Mousefunky · 18/06/2018 15:21

Bizarrely all of mine were born at 40+3. DC1 was 10 lbs, DC2 9 lbs 6 and DC3 10 lbs 3. DC3 was the most straight forward delivery.

Lightning88 · 18/06/2018 18:58

Thank you for all your replies. You've no idea how reassuring it is that some of you have gone on to have bigger babies and not had much tearing :)

Obviously i know every birth is different, but it's given me a bit of optimism now. :)

OP posts:
alphasox · 18/06/2018 19:01

Baby 1 10 days early 7lb8
Baby 2 1 day early 8lb 12
Second labour much quicker and easier.

BikeRunSki · 18/06/2018 19:07

DC1 - 36+5
DC2- 39+0

Those last 2 and a half weeks really dragged!

(Both were spontaneous labours, but both were emcs, so I can't comment on tearing)

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 18/06/2018 19:12

@lightning88

Bigger babies are actually meant to be easier generally (positioning aside..) as you will have gravity on your side, that couple with the fact your body has already dealt with labour before stands you in good stead.

Try not to worry, it doesn’t change anything and chances are, it will never be as bad as you are imagining 👌

Lightning88 · 18/06/2018 22:27

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking

Thanks, I think because I suffer with anxiety I am over analysing and worrying!

Just hoping they make an appearence soon as I can't take the pelvic pain, nausea, back pain and waddling much more!
