Will they induce for reduced movements?

Hi Ladies,

Just wondering..I’m currently 28 weeks and am being sent for daily CTGs due to my baby being extremely quiet. I barely get any kicks from her all day and it’s been like that for a week now. I had a scan which showed placenta etc was fine, but I do have too much fluid which probably doesn’t help!

I’m just wondering what the next course of action maybe if things don’t improve after these daily CTGs. I know they wouldn’t induce me any time soon as it’s way to early! But there doesn’t seem
To be a logical explanation as to why I can no longer really feel
Her. Just wondering if anyone has had the same experience or any advise. Thank you!

I think because you’re so early they would be more likely to monitor you every regularly and as long as they CTG / Scans show baby is ok they’ll try keep nabybin as long as possible.

I’ve been in a lot of reduced movements and they’re booked me for induction at 40 weeks because of it but have said that if I go in between now and then (37 weeks) they may bring it forwar

Thank you :) thought that maybe the case, I suppose that’s all they can do. Guess they will just keep a close eye on everything which I can’t complain about. And the scans and CTG Are ok so she must be fine..!

Next time you’re in or see your midwife you could ask them for a bit of clarity. I think each hospital / trust has slightly different policies and they’ll always be happy to explain things to you. Pregnancy is stressful enough (especially when you’re having a few complications) so at least if you know what the “plan is” then you can feel less unsure about things.

They won’t induce you unless they believe medically that the baby is safer out than in. Being so early they are unlikely to induce you unless things get very bad. I had an emcs because one of my twins stopped moving - his growth had slowed for the previous 7 weeks but it wasn’t until he actually stopped moving that they operated. I was 35 weeks.

Do you have an anterior placenta?

CJ1990 · 17/06/2018 16:36

Yeah they said they’d review it Friday so I guess I’ll find out then what the plan is :)

No my placenta is posteria. The only thing that it could be at the mo is the excess fluid making me not feel as much (I got diagnosed with polyhydramnios) but they can’t be 100% sure.

I have had 7 episodes of reduced movements, even though everything has come back fine, I have asked to be induced and they agree, so once I turn 38 weeks on Thursday, they plan on booking induction, I would rather be safe and be induced than something be wrong

moose234 · 17/06/2018 17:03

O and any more reduced movements between now and 38 weeks (4 days) they are gonna induce me anyway

Bluebirdsky · 17/06/2018 17:04

I think the extra fluid could definitely be a reason for not feeling as much movement; are they doing a glucose tolerance test or anything else to try and find out the cause?
I think at the moment they would just continue to monitor you closely and give you regular scans but wouldn't look to induce you unless they were really very concerned and felt that Baby was better off out than in.

Yeah if things don’t improve over the next few weeks I’m going to ask about the possibility an induction at 38+ weeks. Would rather be safe than sorry and it concerns be I can’t keep an eye on her movements.

I’ve had the GTT test and all
Came back ok. Maybe she’s just really chilled out (I asked if that could be it!) but they couldn’t really say.
Close monitoring it will be then I think over the next few weeks!

Good luck! I have been on weekly scans since 32 weeks and twice weekly CTG's too
