Hey everyone I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant and I have been having awful hip pain when I wake up in the middle of the night it's hard to turn over and when I wake up in the morning I just feel battered. Midwife did tell me that baby's head is down is this what is causing the pain? Also I've been getting heartburn in the middle of the night evrey night 😩 anyone else the same? Also first baby 💙

Sounds fairly normal for this stage. My coccyx hurt from 13 weeks in first pregnancy and took six months to resolve after giving birth. Your midwife can refer you to Physio if necessary. Ask her about Omeprazole for the heartburn too. The last month or so is murder (35 weeks with DC2 and feeling rather battered myself!)

Im the same. 34 weeks today and its a killer when turning over in bed its awful but very normal its your pelvis getting ready for the birth it apparently becomes softer and more “open” thats what iv read anyway.

Is it painful to walk in the day? Only that was my first experience when I had SPD.

Oh gosh. I'm 26 weeks and feeling the same. I wake up in pain at night because of too much pressure is being applied to my hip. I turn and manage to fall asleep, only to wake up again a little while later with the same happening to the other hip. I Dread to think what else is in store in the next couple of weeks...

Yep, I've been having the same for at least a month. I'm 37 weeks. It's the body preparing for labour and making room for your growing baby. I swap from laying on my right/left side about 10x in the night due to the pain. If I need the toilet, I have to hobble there like an old lady. Do you have a pregnancy pillow? Having some cushioning between your knees and belly support usually helps.

Apparently, the heartburn subsides once the babies head is engaged so you might not have much longer of putting up with that.

I've recently been diagnosed with PHP (SPD). There's some great resources with exercises you can do. In the interim my physio said something warm on the back and cool on the front helps (not necessarily at the same time) due to how the pressure affects different muscles. I've also been offered a course of hydrotherapy.

I’m 36 weeks and have been having this too. I’d wake up In pain down one side, turn round, then wake up with pain down the other! I really recommend doing some yoga stretches before bed. There’s some really good free videos on you tube. It has basically stopped the pain for me. Keeping active also helps. Days where I manage a good walk my hips are better.
