Hi. What's the latest in pregnancy anyone has gone on holiday ? I only want a week away somewhere with a 2 hour flight, has anyone else travelled in the third trimester ?

Just make sure you get decent travel insurance as soon as you book anything, that will cover you if your pregnancy becomes complicated so you can’t go or if you give birth on holiday. It must cover the baby too, most insurance companies only cover the baby up to 27/8 weeks.

So long as you can sort that then go and have fun!

You need to get a letter from your doctor to say you are fit to fly! Staff on planes have the right to refuse if you don't! Had this discussion with my midwife yesterday!

I’m currently on holiday 29/30 wks, it’s lovely!
Only a 2.5 hr flight to Spain but I will say the queuing for check in / boarding long walks to get luggage / car hire etc did feel hard work. I’m finding it hard to walk more than 20 mins at a time tbh so all we’re doing is laying around the pool and driving anywhere more than 5 mins!

I flew with Ryan air, I got a letter signed by midwife, she was absolutely fine with it and no one asked at the airport or mentioned the pregnancy.

I think as long as your midwife is happy, you’ve got decent insurance and you’re realistic about where you stay (we have 2 flights of stairs up to apartment, I wouldnt want anymore!) you’ll probably be fine!

Happy holidays!

I went at 30 weeks - 2.5 hr flight time
I had my Dr sign 'fit to fly' letter but no-one asked me for it... I did absolutely nothing on the holiday, I really just wanted to lie down for a week , so thats what I did !!

I will say that I found queueing, airport, flight (plus 2 hr delay sitting on plane) and then driving 1.5hrs home after flight , very tiring and uncomfortable and I wasn't 'showing' or 'big' in my bump - just our bodies are working so hard all the time!!

If you give yourself the time off, and drive somewhere instead, it might be just as nice for you
Whatever you decide - enjoy ! :)

I’m going on holiday tomorrow (33+3). Two hour flight. Luckily live under an hour to our local airport.
My insurers say pregnancy isn’t an illness so no need to do anything special with my annual policy, and I’ve got an EHIC card. GP provides a fit to fly letter, which they’ve given based on my mw appt y’day (bp, urine etc). I was slightly worried about getting it but all was ok. Last hol @ 29 weeks I also had a letter but no one asked to see it.
Taking notes and have scoped the nearest maternity unit as DS was born @ 35 weeks.
