Hi. I am considering baby three, even though my first two pregnancy I was hospitalized with HG. Has anyone got private care or a specialist in the UK for HG? My GP was next to useless/clueless about HG and told me ‘most people get sick’ and refused to see me..I obviously ended up in the hospital 24 hours later on a drip. So this time round I am willing to travel and pay if necessary. Any ideas?

Have HG but have been lucky to have good GP, no idea about private healthcare but just want to give my sympathies! It's an awful, awful, AWFUL condition and I have never felt so I'll in my life as I did for the first 23 weeks of pregnancy.

Good luck, I hope it's not as bad this time for you Flowers

Thank you :) I agree with you, HG is so hard. Lucky you having a good GP. I think I need to find a specialist out of town. Flowers

Talk to a few independent midwives - they are able to cannulate you and give you fluids at home and one I met also had other hydration tricks up her sleeve (e.g. Rectal hydration). This can mean the difference between making HG bearable vs not. I have standard private healthcare which does not cover pregnancy but it did cover I think about 10 days in hosp for fluids - however as with everything I had to be referred and generally by that point it is better to have been seen. So independent midwives seem a better option. But they aren't cheap.

HG is the most grim experience I have ever had to endure, twice, but at least I had a excellent and very helpful GP ( I later found out that he is married to a midwife).

Pregnancy Aickness Support have lots of useful information, and lots to educate/inform Health care professionals. If your GP is stubborn though, maybe their helpline could help you find the care you want?

Hi. Sorry for the late reply. I used the support site last time and they told me I was on the wrong medication, which was good advice but my GP disregarding it and asked me ‘which medical team is that’ I just went to A&E and got admitted instead. Thank you though the site is brilliant though. Smile
