I'm 14 weeks pregnant.

Yes! You'll have forgotten everything by the time you need it! Why not get a few books to skim through in the meantime?

I think it might depend on where you live but where I am you cant book on to the nhs classes until you've had your 20 week scan. The NCT classes will put you with people a similar due date and generally take place a couple of months before birth.

Yes. I’m not in the UK but I started antenatal classes at 28 weeks and was still one of the ‘less pregnant’ women.

Okay thanks. I am a bit clueless as it's my first pregnancy. Xx

They usually recommend starting them at 30-34 weeks I think.

I'll wait then. The woman who runs it says it's fine but I will end up feeling like the odd one out so I'll wait xx

You can certainly sign up to classes now to start after about 30 weeks - some classes get full if you leave it too close to the date.

I started mine at 33 weeks and it feels late. I was itching to know more/feel more in control by 30weeks. ideally I think 28-32 weeks is optimal time. In London I had to book at 12 weeks to get my place so do plan it ahead...

MeadowHay · 11/06/2018 14:13

Yes. I'm doing mine a bit later than ideal but 14 weeks is way too early, I would have forgotten everything. I'm 39 weeks now and have my last NHS class, 'Newborn Know-How' tonight! Last week had an 'Active Birth' one. Had breastfeeding workshop at 36 weeks and still felt the need to read some refresher material in a book the other day because I couldn't remember half of it properly and that was only from 3 weeks ago Blush.

They're also great for meeting people with babies a similar age as a support group post birth so I'd suggest waiting so you're more in line with the others attending

We started ours at 28 weeks, good job we did as baby nearly made an appearance at 32 but held on in there til 34 weeks

I've booked on for later Smile glad it's sorted.
