So I’m a healthy weight, have always excercised but before pregnancy liked sweet food.
I’m pregnant just after a miscarriage, and although I know my diet wasn’t the cause of the miscarriage, I want to try and eat more healthily this time.

I’ve largely cut out sweets/chocolate. Breakfast usually cereal/toast. Snacks are fruit. Cut down on crisps but still eating these.
Lunch is usually a sandwich.
Evening meals Eating a lot of salad and meat, but unfortunately a lot of cheese aswell. Can’t stop eating feta/Hallumi.
Can anyone advise on healthy snacks and meal plans?
I really want to eat as well as possible for baby and to minimise excessive weight gain for me but it seems difficult.
I feel like I’ve swapped chocolate for cheese at the moment.

Have you got ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting’? There’s a good chapter on nutrition and what to aim for - the amount of portions of protein, grains etc, the best fruit and veg. You could have a read and write yourself some meal plans.

That said, I read it and then proceeded to eat a lot of ice cream, biscuits and the rest!

But you probably have much more discipline than me, and I found it very informative.

Also, I think the cheese is a good thing - full of calcium, so carry on (just check the cheeses you shouldn’t eat, because I had some goats cheese and then read that I should’ve avoided that brand...)

Good luck!

No bb2 I haven’t got that.
I bet I’m eating far too much already because even though it’s so early I seem to be literally ravenous. Supposedly you shouldn’t even gain any weight in the first trimester I can’t see that happening!
I’m going to have a look for this book.
Thanks!

Oh don’t worry, you’re not alone, I’ve eaten loads throughout! First trimester I had to keep snacking to stop me feeling sick, and I didn’t fancy anything healthy, so it was all carbs! And I did put on about half a stone. Then second trimester I was just starving! It has eased off in the third trimester now though - there’s just less room in there I think!

Definitely worth a read of the book, if only to give you some ideas, but don’t beat yourself up about eating too much or the wrong things - listen to your body. And pregnancy is exhausting so you deserve the odd treat!

So with you on the dairy - milk, cheese and yogurt all the way. Oh, and ice cream!

Lemonsherberts · 10/06/2018 22:15

Milknosugar do you know what sex you are having?
Bb2 I know I have a thing for hit chocolate, squirty cream I could go on....
I never had any of this obsession with Cheese with ds, I’m wondering if it’s a little girl this time.
Although that’s probably an old wives tail about different cravings for different sexes.
It is interesting how much a pregnancy can differ however.
Thank you so much milknosugar I will have a look through the meal planners.

I've also been having a LOT of cheese! Can't get enough! Baby must really like cheese! 😆😉
