Where did you get it? I'd love some pics/links. I'm mostly a "travel light with a rucksack" person, but I'm having a section this time round, and a hiking rucksack isn't going to cut it, yet a weekend suitcase seems too much?

Small issue I know, but I just can't work out what sort of bag I actually need!

I took a wheely suitcase hand luggage size

Yokatsu · 09/06/2018 21:21

Many years ago and the bag is now long gone but it was a hold all on wheels a little like this

guiltynetter · 09/06/2018 21:22

i used a leopard print travel bag from matalan that i usually use as cabin luggage.

Cinnamus · 09/06/2018 21:23

Small suitcase. Carry on size

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 09/06/2018 21:23

Wheely suitcase for me and changing bag for the baby.

bunnyrabbit93 · 09/06/2018 21:23

A suitcase and a separate backpack for baby clothes

HarrietSchulenberg · 09/06/2018 21:24

Mine was a small gym bag for me with a huge, open topped holdall for baby things. I was out in 6 hours with ds1 so hardly used anything but in for 3 days with ds2 and found the holdall brilliant as I didn't need to rummage too hard for baby things.

Aria2015 · 09/06/2018 21:30

I was caught off guard so everything was stuffed onto plastic bags, not very glamorous I know lol!

BaconCrispsGone · 10/06/2018 09:29

One of those heavy duty supermarket bags for life :)

NeverTwerkNaked · 10/06/2018 09:35

For dd mine was a collection of tatty carrier bags containing a weird assortment of stuff - she was born when DS was ill in hospital and I hadn’t been home for over a week so relied on other people bringing me stuff! It really doesn’t matter what you use, just use whatever you already have

NapQueen · 10/06/2018 09:38

Wheely cabin suitcase. Tried the "bag for labour" "bag for baby" "bag for mum" one first time round and it was so annyoing.

I chucked in some empty carrier bags and anything soiled or no longer needed went in there and dh took it home (stayed two nights both times).

sar302 · 10/06/2018 09:39

Wheels suitcase and a duffel bag. We ended up being in hospital for three days after the birth, and that was three days worth of clothes for the three of us, nappies, muslins, bulky pads, food and drink etc. So much stuff... felt so bad when I packed until all the other women at NCT had done the same!

pastabest · 10/06/2018 09:39

A big matalan weekend/overnight bag.

Like these but a different nicer pattern because it's a few years old now. www.matalan.co.uk/womens/accessories/bags-and-purses/weekend-bags

It holds my spare fabric for dressmaking in the rest of the time.

Oly5 · 10/06/2018 09:42

One of these - with a view to the fact it’s machine washable. It’s still in use as a swim bag for the kids.

I'm having a c section on Tuesday and I have a small holdall and a 30 litre rucksack. The rucksack is mainly because I couldn't fit my toiletry bag, towel and prescription meds in the small holdall.

happymummy12345 · 11/06/2018 01:47

I took a suitcase. Seemed like the easiest option

StruggsToFunc · 11/06/2018 07:55

Small suitcase. Much easier to find everything than rummaging in a holdall.

One tip - lay everything out and then get your partner to pack it. That way when you're going through transition and threatening to rip his head off if he doesn't pass you your Ribena / hairband / aromatherapy stick NOW he will know where it is Wink

mintich · 11/06/2018 07:58

I had a holdall and a canvas tote bag ( and a few carrier bags with my food!)

elmo1980 · 11/06/2018 08:01

I bought this beyondthestork.co.uk/products/cam-cam-copenhagen-weekend-bag-in-charcoal

So soft and a good size. Will use it lots for overnight stays elsewhere. I used a small suitcase with first baby but wanted something a bit different this time round.

hiptobeasquare · 11/06/2018 08:02

I took a wheelie suitcase.
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01B4SU91G?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title&tag=mumsnetforum-21
And also a Longchamp Tote which is my most used handbag.
I packed the wheelie suitcase with all of my things and the tote with all baby things which really helped me!

LuckygoLucy · 11/06/2018 17:03

I have elcs booked in couple weeks I have slight ocd issues so I have 2 days worth of stuff for me and baby in a small wheeled suitcase which is all packed in lunch bags then in another bag left next to front door easy for hubby to find is another 2 days worth of mum and baby stuffs also lunch bagged lol. If I'm in any longer he can just wash the first 2 days stuff and bring back etc nice and easy for him. xx

Wellthisunexpected · 11/06/2018 18:42

Last time everything was in a massive holdall. This time I'll be taking a small suitcase, hand luggage size and then changing bag for baby. Separate is better.
