Hello my baby was moving fine this morning at around 10am, we then went out for lunch and in the car he doesn’t usually move anyways so I dong recall feeling movements between 10-12, we had lunch and I had a large ice cold coke, he didn’t move. We went to a friends and I had another coke, still nothing. This was now 4pm. So we went home and Iv felt some movements but they are tiny like I can’t even describe them but I have to be sitting perfectly still to feel them. Where as normally once I sit down and eat and drink my baby starts to party. I am 36 weeks almost 37 and wondering if this would be classed as reduced movements? Or is reduced movements when they stop completely? It’s now 6pm and it’s been around 8 hours since I felt a good pattern of movements, but I have felt a few flutters in the 8 hours

If the movements are different to the normal pattern of movements that you experience then it counts. Call your hospital and talk to them and explain what you have written here. They will most probably ask you in for monitoring.

Definitely reduced movement. Try a cold sugar drink followed by a hot drink and if no chamge then ring the hospital.

You've done cold drinks and sitting and waiting. Phone now. Expect to be invited straight in.

NotARegularPenguin · 09/06/2018 18:06

Don’t try a cold drink/not drink.

I’m a midwife and while we used to say that we don’t anymore, it’s not evidence based. By the time you’ve noticed a change in movements you need to ring and be seen, so yes please ring. Good luck.

Please don't try a hot/cold drink if you have to stimulate the baby to move it still counts as reduced movements and you still need to be checked out.

Ok thank you everyone

Definitely go and get checked out! Hope all is ok.

I've been checked 3 times for this now (almost 35 weeks) very active baby normally who seems to have changed pattern in the last couple weeks! but the maternity unit have been great, the midwife said to me they always want to hear from you if you're worried rather than sitting at home worrying so don't feel bad about calling.

Bluebirdsky · 10/06/2018 08:32

How did you get on @Emz2019? Hope all is ok.

Emz2019 · 10/06/2018 09:18

Hi he started partying it up in there once on the machines lol. They told me to go back again if I’m ever worried. I don’t know what could have been wrong it was around 9 hours he was very quiet for then he went back to normal

If you are questioning the movements or lack of them then it's really a sign you should get it checked out. I kept thinking I had reduced movements and even though it turned out that everything was fine the hospital was only too happy to check. They want nothing more than to make sure you and the baby are ok.

BrutusMcDogface · 10/06/2018 09:37

Glad all is good, Emz!

Bluebirdsky · 10/06/2018 09:52

Glad all was well, my baby did exactly the same thing a couple of weeks ago!
