I'm looking for advice, I am 26w + 6 and I've been suffering with pains in my lower back and hips. The midwife believe I have pgp and said to mention it to the consultant I am seeing on the 21st to be referred to the physio. The pain the last 24hours has been horrendous and it's making me miserable and emotional. I'm exhausted from not being able to sleep. Paracetamol isn't helping, I've been taking 2 every 4 hours like the midwife said but still no help. Does anyone have any advice what could help me ease the pain please? Tia x

I think rest is the only other thing until you get physio and maybe a support belt.. I know that’s hard to do esp if you have other children.. I was signed off work and lay on a sofa (as much as i could) most of the third trimester.. sleep with a pillow between your legs also, take small steps and swivel out of cars instead of one leg first, basically try to keep your legs as close together as possible at all times.. it should go away when baby is born but in the meantime it’s awful you have my sympathies.. x

Please don’t get a support belt until you have seen a physio. If your pelvis and joints are not aligned correctly, it will hold them in the wrong place.

Have a look at Pelvic Partnership and get an appointment with one of their recommended providers.

I am 25 weeks and struggled from 16-23 weeks with awful PGP. Went to one Physio who told me I would have to stop walking. This didn’t work as the support belt and the no walking hadn’t actually treated he problem. Then saw a Pelvic Partnership recommended physio and have now had a normal week pain free. It has been the first time I’ve actually enjoyed being pregnant and it’s all down to the treatment I had from this Physio.

PGP is treatable if you see the right person, anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Where in the UK are you based?

Also, an NHS referral is something that I waited for 6 weeks for to be told that it had been sent to the wrong hospital. It really is worth paying privately so that you can enjoy being pregnant.

Can I join?

I have pgp/ spd. Waiting for my first physio appt in a few weeks but the pain is dreadful.

Im in tears every night. Im very out of line as im hobbling rather than walking.

Mainly effecting my right side pelvic area. The pain is worse than labour itself (had 3 dc and fml yes it hurts)

Im on stronger pain killers they dont help.

Baths dont help.
Nothing seems to help and at night its got that bad im in tears unable to move.

It does hurt through the day too but not as bad.
I do rest as much as I can.
Trying not to walk too much until my appt.

Im nearly 28 weeks. Never had it this bad before

@jubbablub I am based in East Yorkshire just outside of hull. I'm in agony. Tonight it felt like my leg is trying to pop out it's socket which is making me walk funny which hurts my back n pulls my bump. My partner doesn't seem to understand how bad it hurts. 🤦🏻‍♀️ all I can do is take paracetamol. X

@LostMyBaubles I honestly was you two weeks ago. Felt almost depressed as I couldn’t even get out and take my dog for a walk.

Please look on Pelvic Partnership. A private, good physio should be able to see you within a matter of days.

For me, the adjustment to my pelvis took two days to settle down (I had osteopathy on a related SIJ injury last year and knew this would be the case), but my whole outlook is totally different now. I feel like I have enjoyed the last week of my pregnancy.

Flowers I know the paint too well.
I still get a twinge now and then 6 years onShock.
I found what helped me was kind of pulling my belly up a bit whilst walking and it kind of took a but of pressure off my pelvis, my son has a massive head so it's no wonder I had spdGrin.
I didn't get it the 2nd pregnancy because my daughter was breech but she turned twice and each time she did the spd came back for a bit, I was bloody glad when she decided to turn back round but then she kicked me whilst in a breech position and boy did that hurt.
Do rest as much as poss and if they offer crutches then take them!
sit down going up and down the stairs.
avoid places where people may bang into you.
Getting on and out of the bath can make it worse.
Ask for help.
