Hello I know you are allowed up to 200mg of caffeine while pregnant but pro plus says not to take if pregnant does anyone know why? I would only take a couple of tablets a day (100mg) not a coffee drinker and struggling at work in my third trimester xxx

Pro plus also contains magnesium stearate, if you take over 350mg of this per day can cause cramps, diarrhoea and toxicity. So if you're taking other supplements that have it in also (it's in a LOT of supplements) then you may go over your recommended daily intake xx

sorry i have no answer but i often wonder why red bull says not for pregnant women when the caffeine in it doesn’t go over your recommended daily amount. similar question!

Hideandgo · 08/06/2018 11:05

It’s unethical and costly to test products on pregnant women.

Embracethechaos · 10/06/2018 18:38

All caffinated drinks say not for pregnant women, like meds there's the ethical reason but energy drinks are full of so much other crap, like fizzy drinks, best to avoid. NHS website is best, food companies are covering their backs, red bull caused cardiac problems in teenagers with preexisting conditions so I'd rather go for tea and coffee, more natural.

Maybe because rather than absorbing it gradually from a drink you'd get the caffeine in one hit?

Lol! You and your baby will be fine!

High levels of caffeine can cause miscarriage, I think this must be why.

Just read Third trimester, probably OK but I'd just check with your midwife. You could try other energy boosting snacks but I'm also in my third trimester and know only caffeine or a nap is good enough.

If the product says don't have when pregnant I would avoid.

You don't have to get caffeine from coffee - tea, green tea, Diet Coke and chocolate all have caffeine too
