I've been feeling lots of movement over the past couple of weeks. I'm 19 weeks now and I've stopped feeling baby move. I had a scan due to the sudden stop in movements and everything is fine. Does anyone have any tips on how to get their baby to move? Midwife gave me a couple of ideas but said everyone is different and they may not work. Any ideas?

Thanks folks. Missing my little kicks!

At 19 weeks you don’t feel consistent movement so I wouldn’t be too worried about that.

But tips on getting them to wiggle:
Hot/cold drinks
Fizzy pop
Chocolate

They tend to sleep when you’re on the move as the rocking motion makes them drop off. So I lie down quietly for a bit and relax, put my hands on my belly and you can normally feel some movement after a while.

Thanks @Flamingo84 - I guess this is why I can only feel him/her move at night time then. It's such a lovely feeling. I can't wait to feel it more regularly. I have an anterior placenta so really didn't think I would feel anything early on!

im 36 weeks and i only really feel him move when im trying to sleep or when i eat a big meal ^^

It is a really amazing feeling and you want to feel them all the time!

I’ve got to the point now where if mine is jiggling about I can rub a spot and he’ll give me a nudge back! It really makes me feel like we’re bonding.

You are lucky you’ve felt movement so early with your placenta there, it normally causes you not to feel them.

Have fun getting him/her to cooperate!

I was told to lie down and concentrate and count for 30 mins. But don't be complacent. There was a campaign called 'count the kicks'. I'll see if i can find a link for you.

My internet link isn't great at the moment, but if you search 'count the kicks' plenty comes up. Seem to be 2 charities focussed on it. And I see there are some people contradicting the idea... At least you can decide which advice is best for you to follow.

@Flamingo84 I am very lucky. It's anterior and high and I can only feel movements low down which make sense. It's the most incredible feeling.

I wish I'd been told at 19 weeks my placenta was placed such to prevent me feeling much! Would've helped a lot!

Hope all goes well for you. Cake

I was advised to drink a cold drink, eat a bar of chocolate and lie on my left side for 2 hours .

Best. Medical. Advice. Ever!

If only all "doctors' orders" were that easy to follow ;)

Anterior placenta this time too. Only just felt movements at 19 weeks. Couldn't feel anything lying in bed at night. Cold drinks and sugary stuff seems to get him going.

There is a school of thought though that you should try to encourage movements if you are concerned later in the pregnancy. If someone dumped a load of cold water over you when you weren't feeling well, you'd move sure enough but you wouldn't necessarily be ok IYSWIM?
