Remedies to stop bloating?

I am nearly 7 weeks and I am so bloated all the time. I am a size 14 so I’m not exactly skinny and all my weight does naturally go to my stomach. I haven’t been to the gym in a while so I think I am putting on weight. I am also constipated, I go to the toilet every 4-5 days at the moment!

I caught a glimpse of my reflection at work this morning and I was shocked to see the size of my stomach, I look about 7 months not 7 weeks! Has anyone had any luck with remedies for bloating and constipation?

Thanks!

You need to eat more fibre every single day as your digestive system has slowed down due to the effects of progesterone.

Different things work for different people but dried fruit e.g. prunes, apricots tends to work for most people, while other people can just increase the volume of fresh/frozen fruit and veg they eat.

If you can pass stools more daily your bloating should go down temporarily.

I hear you op! I'm 5+3 and feel massive already but it's just bloat! I eat a fairly decent diet and drink loads of water but still a bit constipated. Will be glad when I can finally tell people as feel huge x

Been there and it’s so not fun. Prune juice (you get it in cartons like orange juice in supermarket) helps me. And a square or two of dark chocolate. Also exercise - a brisk 20 minute walk can help get things moving. But if things like this aren’t working for you there are things you can take from pharmacy eg fybogel and lactulose, or see GP. Make sure you explain you’re pregnant when buying anything as I don’t think most laxatives are recommended. It’s normal for things to slow down (progesterone relaxes your smooth muscle so basically things don’t get squeezed along your bowel as quickly as normal) but it can be uncomfortable and it is worth asking for help. It can take a few days for things to take effect so don’t expect immediate results.
