C-section overhang - did everyone get one?

I'm currently deciding between a c-section and a vaginal birth and I know it's incredibly vain but I'm worried about the dreaded overhang that many women are left with after a section. I've also read that alot of women still look pregnant months later.

Has anyone managed to avoid this? I know the baby being healthy is the most important factor here but cannot deny I will be depressed with an overhang etc and it will affect my life.

*gone down loads... I meant to say!

2 VBs no CS’ and an overhang... but my skin elasticity is bad, as in connective tissue disorders run in my family and while I’m not quite affected I do have mild issues.

So I’ve always assumed it’s that.

I’ve had both and have had overhang with both. It’s going to be one of those annoying down to the individual things I’m afraid...

I will say though, my stretch marks are worse than my scar!

I have had two and have a bad overhang, I am losing weight now though so will see what is left.

I would have still had both c sections as it was the safest mode of childbirth for me and my baby. The decision for me would depend on why you're deciding between c section and natural. Although the recovery from c section is a pain it's worth the peace of mind if you have increased risks associated with vaginal birth.

I had one at the age of 41 and have no overhang.

I was fat to start with but I actually don't have an overhang (apart from the general post baby tummy). I had a lovely lady surgeon who probably thinks about this stuff.

I had no overhang (well, a tiny tiny pouch at one side where they messed up the stitches, but it was never noticable when I was dressed and DH never noticed it.) But now I'm mid fifties and have gained weight it has appeared. I hate it.

Mines just super pinched

Had 1 csection and no overhang at all. Currently expecting 2nd and booked in for c section. May get overhang, but am fairly slim so fingers crossed.

Incidentally amoung mum friends and wine, when the talk comes to post birth injuries, I am always shocked at how bad things are years later for the vaginal birth women. None will go for a run or trampoline and seem to avoid sex like the plague due to pain or fear of it, or scared they will wee (or poo!) They say a c section recovery takes longer, but in my small pool of friends this isn’t always the case.

I have an overhang and had a vaginal birth. I wasn't overweight and didn't put on much when pregnant.

Tinkerbell89 · 05/06/2018 19:48

I had an overhang after but it went after a while. Having a c sec is major surgery and take a recovery after but after pregnancy you're likely to have some bloat and look a little pregnant whether you've had a c sec or vaginal birth. Your body has gone through a dramatic change and will need time to recover and get back to normal.

I think as long as baby is healthy and well and you are too it doesn't matter how they arrive
