Not wanting to get hopes up

Hey all, new here and still learning nthe lingo; but my partner and I recently decided to stop not trying (we've stopped using contraceptives but aren't tracking basal temp or fertile days etc) and so I had my progesterone only implant removed (it was about 5 years old anyway).

I would have expected my period in the few days to a week after I had removed it, but for the last several months with the implant it hasn't been real consistent. However on what would have been day 28/29 of my cycle we did the baby dance and there was some brown discharge. Both my partner and I took this to mean AF would soon be visiting... I'm now on day 40 and still no AF. I want to take a test, hoping the discharge was from implantation, but at the same time I'm worried it wasn't and I'll just be disappointed. Has anyone had similar things happen when they've come off the implant?

all sorts of weird things happen when you come off of contraceptives and it can take months for your body to readjust and periods to come back properly - just take a test! Try and assume it will be negative if you don't want to get your hopes up but at least you will know? You could try the first response ones which you can take before your period is due so should show up if its a missed period. Good luck lovely :) x

After I had my implant removed to try for baby number one (this was 4 years ago) it took 3 months for me to get back to normal, on the 4th month I got a positive test. The discharge could well have been implantation BUT if this month isn't the month then just keep going at it and it will happen. Your body HAS to get back to normal at some point. Take the test! You never know Wink good luck x

Thanks. I think I'll get a test after work today. If the stars have aligned this month knowing sooner rather than later is MUCH better considering one of my hobbies is getting the snot beat out of me sword fighting! (Im getting better at not being hit... I think.)

No real advice OP, but fingers crossed it's either a good outcome on your test or things return to normal.

Unfortunately so much seems to throw out cycles, I've just gone back on the pill and had three periods in 5 weeks!

let us know what happens with the test! x

Good luck op SmileFlowers

Crumble 9 gah! Three periods in five weeks sounds nightmarish. When I had the implant I would go from not having a period for what felt like 2-3 months, have a heavy period for a week, then either nothing or a light period for a day or two, then another week or so of light period. It's sort of why I'm not wanting to get my hopes up about being late on this one - even at 40 days, it's not as long as I've gone previously in some cases.

Bought a pack of three clear blue fast response tests. Negative this month, but we'll keep trying and maybe once my cycle normalises...
