I’m only 6+6 and I just bought a pramConfused
In my defence it was an AMAZING deal...

Depends on how you'll feel having a pram if the worst case scenario happens really. Personally I'd hate it but everyone is different.

LawDegreeBarbie · 03/06/2018 09:16

You're not crazy but like the above poster said, if something were to happen, would you still keep the pram while trying again or would it hurt you seeing it? Most people wait until after the 20 week scan or viability date at 24 weeks just because of these reasons.

sexnotgender · 03/06/2018 09:18

I totally understand that and that was why I was reticent to buy it but it was too good a deal to turn down. It shall be living in my parents garage until such time as we need it.

I wish I did similar with ds1, found an amazing deal with the pram I really wanted. I was talked out of it, I was about 15 weeks. The deal never came up again and I had to settle when we finally got one.

I don't see an issue with buying early, if you have checked it can be returned if needed. A friend bought a pram before she was even pregnant but had to sell it on at a loss as she had twins!

sexnotgender · 03/06/2018 09:20

If the worst happens I’ll sell it on. New in box there’s every possibility I’ll make a profit or break even so not concerned about that.

Then you're absolutely not mad. I would loved to have done the same but anxiety kicked in. Nearly 27 weeks now and still crazy Googling viability statistics because we have everything for her, her room is decorated etc.

BrutusMcDogface · 03/06/2018 09:21

You are crazy! Grin

sexnotgender · 03/06/2018 09:22

Haha, thanks Brutus, my husband thinks so too.

Would you not keep hold of it even if (god forbid) the worst happened? Presumably you'd keep trying?

I must admit I broke all of my own rules and bought our pram at 17 weeks (great deal, like you!) Dp made me feel better by saying we'd sell it if the worst happened.

BrutusMcDogface · 03/06/2018 09:25

My partner surprised me by saying that i should buy it!! I was fully expecting him to say no, it's too early! Grin

sexnotgender · 03/06/2018 09:27

Yeah we probably would keep hold of it as we will definitely keep trying.

My husband also said we could sell it if we needed to.

I’m the type of person that HATES paying more than I have to for things. I’d kick myself in 6 months if I had to shell out £300+ more for what I’ve just bought.

I don’t mean I always buy the cheapest, I like high quality items but will try and get the best deal I can on them.

I bought our pram at 13 weeks, again due an amazing deal but held off anything else until after 20 weeks. This time I'm not buying anything until 20 weeks, except mat clothes!

Fedupxmum · 03/06/2018 17:16

Least you didn't do what I did and got a second hand oyster travel system off eBay and it STINKS!! So bad 😂 on third baby and the travel system looks brand new. Can't send it back so I'm trying to wash it and air it out!... So no, I don't think you are crazy. Just excited! Hope you have the space for it and I hope it doesn't make the pregnancy seem like it's lasting forever cuz you started buying so early lol

sexnotgender · 03/06/2018 18:10

Yuck fedupxmum that sounds grim!

Hopefully a good airing will sort it out.

@Fedupxmum bicarb and white vinegar are your friends! They are great at getting odours out.

FASH84 · 03/06/2018 22:44

I bought mine at twelve weeks, amazing bank holiday deal. I'm not superstitious at all, what will be will be regardless of whether I bought a pram or not. I've had a friend with a still birth and another with a late miscarriage at 37 weeks, I would feel too anxious leaving it until after 37, weeks to prepare and a good deal is a good deal.

sexnotgender · 03/06/2018 23:12

Thanks all, made me feel a little less crazy!
