There is a thread for pregnancy over 40 somewhere so you could look there.

I've been told by my SILs who work in maternity, one whom is a midwife, that it does happen but most of the women it happens to have had large families already e.g. 7+ children. (I can't remember why I asked as it was a few years back, but I think it was more to do with the birth process and articles about it being difficult for older mothers.)

If you definitely want a child your best bet is fertility treatment using donor eggs, which you have to pay for privately.

I know someone it happened to at 46 and first and only baby born at 47 and someone who got pg with first and only child at 46 and had the baby just short of 47. No fertility drugs in either case

How interesting re the midwifes comment!
I am pg at 44 but this will be my DC6. Maybe that's what enabled me to conceive at this age!

Thank you for the replies. Am wondering mostly because I already have DC (getting on for adults), and definitely don’t want another!!

I would say it’s unlikely but most definitely not impossible!
