Want to know blood test results but I can’t find out! :(

I had a blood test on Wednesday to see how many weeks I am. I rang my doctors today to see if my results were in. The receptionist said that she cannot tell me the actual results because she can’t see them as it’s confidential to her, which I understand. She said the results are in and the notes on the system say I need to book a doctors appointment and speak to the nurse but it doesn’t say how many weeks far gone I am. So I’ve booked my appointment for Monday at 8.50. I asked if the doctor can ring me today to at least let me know how many weeks I am and she said the doctor is back to back with appointments today so can’t :(

I am being really anxious and worried about this. Is it a good sign the doctor and nurse need to see me? Or shall I panic?? I’m an anxious person anyway so not knowing right now is killing me!!

Hi lass

Probably just standard procedure in your area to get a confirmation and referal (We just go straight to midwife in scotland) and due to DPA/GDPR thing they won't be allowed to say over phone (ours can't either).

They wouldn't be able to tell you by phone, not sure of the booking in process in your area but you can Google it with your local NHS trust. In my area no one even confirmed I was pregnant, GP not interested just told to call the midwife led unit at the local hospital (less than 2 miles away) got booked in with them a few weeks after finding out and then got the date for my 12 week scan. You know in my SILs area she was told to book in to her GP and see the nurse and the nurse did the booking in and she lives about 12 miles away, I'm sure if it was urgent or dangerous they would've told you to come straight in our go to the local early pregnancy unit at the hospital.
