Boy and girl pregnancies different?

So I am 8 weeks pregnant, and therefore idly wondering all manner of things about this baby, in lieu of actually knowing anything.

I already have two boys, and my pregnancies with them were almost identical - the same symptoms, sickness, heartburn, very very similar. This pregnancy things are different - sickness is different, have got a massively heightened sense of smell which I've never had before etc. What say you - do you reckon symptoms can vary because this one is a girl rather than a boy, or just because it's a different pregnancy.

My first two pregnancies were completely different in terms of symptoms etc. I have 2 girls. Currently pregnant with my third and symptoms are different again.

Pickleshickles · 01/06/2018 09:14

Mine were. I had food cravings with my son and aversions with my girls, especially for tea and coffee.

DramaAlpaca · 01/06/2018 09:17

I had two identical pregnancies resulting in two lovely boys.

Then a completely different pregnancy resulting in... another lovely boy Grin

So personally I'd say you can't tell from the symptoms.

Congratulations on your pregnancy Flowers

I don’t believe it makes a difference, plenty of people do though. Had a boy first - very sick. Having a girl this time - very sick again!

LiteraryDevil1 · 01/06/2018 09:21

All 3 almost identical in what I went off and what I could stomach. 2 girls and one boy. The boy was a surprise as was convinced I was having another girl as symptoms all the same.

mrsnec · 01/06/2018 09:21

I have one of each and my pregnancies were exactly the same. Even in terms of cravings and food aversions!

Mousefunky · 01/06/2018 10:31

I have a boy and two girls and am currently expecting a boy.

My boy pregnancies have mirrored each other. I had all day nausea from around week 5, bad skin, dizzy spells, exhausted, many food and smell aversions and just felt plain rough for the entirety of the first trimester (and the very beginning of the second). Then at around week 16 the nausea lifted and my skin improved hugely.

With my girls I barely knew I was pregnant at all. I didn’t have a drop of nausea or any other real symptoms and my skin was great from start to finish.

Oddly, it was the same for my Mum. She suffered greatly with my brother but didn’t know she was pregnant with me for literally months.

mustbemad17 · 01/06/2018 10:39

My first two pregnancies were girls, absolutely symptom free bar a bit of heart burn. My 2nd i was still walking round the zoo for four hours the day before she was born, 8 days late.

This one is a boy & i knew straight away. I only took another test because i was heaving my guts up every ten minutes - first test on my period due date had been negative. I have had SPD, sciatica, morning sickness throughout, anaemia, heart burn...this little monkey has really dished some karma for the first two! Now at 39 weeks he is teasing me with contractions on & off; the girls were late but once i started that was it!

mumofmunchkin · 01/06/2018 11:45

mustbemad17 does your name begin with E by any chance? What you've said just sounds very much like someone I know who I was talking to a few weeks ago Grin

Sounds like it varies! Will have to wait and see with this little one, it will be fun either way!

Haha afraid not 🙈 not sure 'fun' is how i described this one haha but it is worth it

ItsNotFairLois · 01/06/2018 11:54

I had a boy first, very easy, low risk pregnancy and sickness stopped at 14 weeks.
Currently 21 weeks with a girl, still feeling sick now, major pelvic pain and placenta praevia so completely different for me this time.

mumofmunchkin · 01/06/2018 12:04

Haha didn't mean pregnancy would be fun - never anticipated that Grin more it'll be fun if I end up with three boys, or two boys and a girl.

I had one of each and both pregnancies were pretty much identical!

chloechloe · 01/06/2018 19:17

I'm 14w with DC3, my first boy. All pregnancies have been very similar in that I am lucky not to have much in the way of symptoms. So much so that I only found out about this one 2 weeks ago!!

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 01/06/2018 19:23

I had more sickness and a greatly heightened sense of smell with my boys. With the girls I craved cream cakes and sugary things, with the boys I wanted savoury, fatty, salty.
Heartburn was particularly awful with my last two pregnancies but they were girl and boy.

Pompom42 · 01/06/2018 19:34

I had 2 identical pregnancies, both very sick and both very sensitive to smells.
1st pregnancy addicted to peanut butter & spinach
2nd pregnancy addicted to apples & spinach
Had 2 girls

Dhalandchips · 01/06/2018 19:38

I have three girls and one boy. The pregnancy with ds was different in that I became allergic to all sorts and f raw fruits! I'm allergic to the Y chromosome I reckon!

SomeKnobend · 01/06/2018 19:42

4 pregnancies, all of them different!
