How much should my baby be moving?

I'm 22 weeks and my baby doesn't really move too much. I can go all day without feeling anything and then at night I might feel some movement but not much.

Am I too early to be feeling alot if movement? Maybe I'm just over thinking it?

Some babies don't move much at all, and they are more likely to move when you are still, so if it's regular pattern of quiet days and a bit of movement at night then that's probably ok. I think it's supposed to be more obvious from 24 weeks anyway. It's more about what's normal for your baby than any set amount of movement, from what I understand.

I didn't feel much till 21 weeks. The main thing is that it is consistent from day to day. 22 weeks is still quite early to feel lots and it also depends how the baby is lying.

Thanks for the replies :)

I probably am over thinking it. I've just seen loads of stories on how important it is to monitor movements which has me on edge.

I need to get off the Internet. It has me paranoid :(

I was told you only need to monitor in the third trimester as in the first two trimesters there is lots of space for the baby to turn around in. You also don't do kick counts you just work out what's normal for your individual baby.

Mine moves a lot and I first felt movement at 14 weeks, but around 22 weeks baby went quiet for a few days. It was just the position the baby was in. The midwife poking a bit got baby to move position start kicking again so I could feel it.

Nhs don't ask you to monitor movements until 28 weeks - as it is often indistinct before then. After that as mentioned as I understand it it is against the babies normal pattern which can vary a lot pregnancy to pregnancy. so I would not think about it for a few more weeks.

It really varies baby to baby.

Did they tell you where your placenta was at your 20 week scan? Mine is at the back and I can feel every little movement, but many women have their placenta at the front which cushions baby's movements.
