Fruit and veg that aren't safe during pregnancy?

Obviously unwashed isn't safe, but are there any fruits or veg that should be avoided, or excess can be dangerous? I had a whole melon Blush before realising it was full of vitamin A! Apparently it's safe as it's natural (that is, not synthesised in tablet form) but got me to wondering whether there's anything that's not safe in excess?

I've done a bit of a google but can only find non-scientific information, for example that a certain food is 'cold' and bad for your and baby's energy Hmm

I’ve never heard of any fruits or vegetables that are bad for you. I would say stick to a portion size rather than a whole melon though Grin
The whole pineapple thing to bring on labour, apparently you have to eat 8 pineapples for it to have any effect so you’re all good there!

I'd just go with what the NHS says. Anything else is usually Dr Google rubbish (as you've discovered!). It's very unlikely that eating too much fruit or veg will cause you any harm (apart from maybe giving you indigestion)

Vitamin a from vegetables (eg beta carotene) is fine, it's vitamin a from animal products (eg retinol) that's a problem

Ahh no fruit and vegetables are dangerous in pregnancy unless it is something such as salad past it’s use by date as it can cause listeria.

I ate a whole pineapple trying to bring on Labour with my DD and all it did was burn my tongue.
