Pregnant without ejaculation?

Hello,

From the get-go this is going to be a TMI situation but I am really curious to know if anyone else has experienced this.....

My period started on 14th April and according to the ovulation calculator on here states that my ovulation would most likely be 24th - 28th. On morning of 26th I had sex with my boyfriend but he didn't ahem finish. I have read that pre-cum can only contain sperm if the man has ahem enjoyed himself alone in the previous 24 hours.

I asked him and he said he can remember doing this one night when I fell asleep in my son's bed but he can't remember what night this was and neither can I but it could have been Wednesday.

Anyhoo, for the last 2/3 days I have had brownish discharge and quite a lot of it (sorry!) and backache. Could this be implantation?
If not, should I be worried?

Thanks ladies.

Yes, you could be pregnant.

SecretStash · 30/05/2018 09:16

So you haven’t had a positive pregnancy test, he hasn’t ejaculated inside you, you have what is probably the start of your period and you think you’re pregnant? Confused

Rubytulip · 30/05/2018 09:21

I did first think it was my period then I remember the last one was on 14th April. If it is something like that then there is something up with me! :-o

What you've read about pre-cum and masturbation is nonsense. It can all contain sperm.

Sex, whether the man ejaculated or not, is the cause of pregnancy, not whether he masturbated without you.

Why would you think implantation bleed rather than your period? What contraception method are you using?

ltk · 30/05/2018 09:30

Why are you concerned about the mechanics of masturbation and pre-cum? Buy a test and take it. Pee on the stick. It's a yes-or-no question and a test will answer it.
Do you want or need some emotional support when taking the test (totally understandable)? Who can you call in rl? Good luck!

Polyannah · 30/05/2018 09:34

Precum has nothing to do with masturbation. It always contains sperm.
Are you trying to get pregnant?

SeriousSass · 30/05/2018 09:39

Hopefully you were trying to get pregnant

Celebelly · 30/05/2018 09:47

OK a lot of misinformation going on.

There's a mix of research on precum. One study shows that only small percentage of men's precum contained sperm and that only a fairly small percentage of men have sperm in their precum. Another study showed that precum contained no sperm at all.

The masturbation thing is a red herring. Precum can contain sperm if the man has recently ejaculated through any means.

People who claim they have become pregnant from precum are either incredibly unlucky or, more likely, their partner didn't pull out correctly (quite common with younger men especially)

www.curejoy.com/content/can-you-get-pregnant-from-precum/

Either way, it is very unlikely you are pregnant.

Celebelly · 30/05/2018 09:51

Oh and residual sperm after ejaculation tends to be washed out by urine so unless he didn't pee for 24 hours...

APermanentlyExhaustedPigeon · 30/05/2018 09:52

It can happen, it happened to me. Partner didn’t “not pull out in time”, he definitely didn’t cum at all. I don’t think he had been “enjoying himself” without me prior to that, although that wouldn’t bother me if he had.
Just take a test!

24-28th April wouldn’t be implantation 5 weeks later would it? Implantation is like 10 days after conception.
If you conceived 5 weeks a go you’d easily see a positive on a pregnancy test.
Or do you mean of May?

Celebelly · 30/05/2018 10:05

TLDR: Technically yes you can get pregnant from pre-cum alone but it's very rare and not 'all precum contains sperm' as I often see parroted on here. Research shows that some men's precum contains small amounts of sperm, and an even smaller amount of that sperm is motile. Other men's precum does not at all.

The 'all precum contains sperm' line is appropriate for teaching teenagers about the importance of birth control but I think grown woman are entitled to know the actual science behind it.

ISeeTheLight · 30/05/2018 10:08

You could be pregnant, yes. The only way to know is by doing a pregnancy test.

SecretStash · 30/05/2018 10:08

“What you've read about pre-cum and masturbation is nonsense. It can all contain sperm.” Is that right @SilverHairesCat?
How many studies have you read on it?

Or is that just your opinion because that’s what you’ve heard?

@Celebelly, I’ve read similar. I think what I’ve taken from the studies I’ve read (the abstract from which, at least) is as you have said - it’s very unlikely that you’d get pregnant from pre-ejaculation.

SilverHairedCat · 30/05/2018 10:13

@SecretStash I'm probably better read than most doctors (fertility specialists aside) on the su ject give my husband's infertility issues, but thanks for the snooty assumptions.

You'll note I said CAN. Because it CAN all contain sperm. Linking it to masturbation is nonsensical.

BalloonFlowers · 30/05/2018 10:43

Your last period was over 6 weeks ago??? Take a pregnancy test!

Rubytulip · 30/05/2018 10:45

S**t, sorry! I have confused the issue by writing 'April' when I mean 'May'! Period began 14th May. I can't remember where I read that about the masturbation thing.

And yes.....no problem if I am pregnant as want a third and I am nearly 41. The only downside is that we need to move house in July and I always get baaaad sickness. Been preggers 4 times (2 ended early) and it was always the same. We had planned to start TTC when settled in the new house.

Rubytulip · 30/05/2018 10:57

Plus, Celebelly, what is TLDR?

OP posts:
Lillylollylandy · 30/05/2018 10:58

TLDR means "too long, didn't read"

SecretStash · 30/05/2018 11:01

@silverhairedcat, fab! Can you link me to all the studies you’ve read? I’m doing a healthcare degree at the moment and conception is something I’m studying at the moment, so I’d love to see the studies you’re well read that “all pre-ejacualtion” can contain sperm.
