Hi ladies,I am 36 weeks today and just wanted to know if any of you have been experiencing pregnancy related insomnia? I always used to sleep like a log but now as soon as I wake up to go for a wee(s) in the middle of the night that's it, I am wide awake and it takes me ages to get back off again. 😫 Is this something that will go away after birth? Please tell me it will cause it's tiring not sleeping properly.

I feel for you hun. I'm 33 weeks and honestly in the same boat. I soend my days falling asleep on my feet. Then the second I get in bed I can't get comfortable for love nor money. Night before last I was still tossing and turning at 6 am. Last night I gave up at 4 am. I hate it. I hope you manage to sleep soon.

lilliannrose · 30/05/2018 10:34

@RosieCotton thanks for getting back to me. It's horrid isn't it. I feel like such a zombie in the day and the fact it's so muggy outside isn't helping either. Roll on due day is all I say. Lol

37 + 2 and in exactly the same boat. It's actually starting to get me down. Getting up for a pee about 7 times a night, then laying there trying to get back to sleep. Then my partners snoring and I'm constantly having to hit him to shut up lol. Honestly can't wait to give birth now just so I'm not awake continuously needing to pee and barely peeing when I reach the toilet 😰

Only 30 weeks here but already have this... Wake up to wee then brain goes into over drive. Last night my brain was busy formulating a thank you card for the midwifes after baby is born. Literally couldn't get back to sleep!

You have my sympathies!!

lilliannrose · 30/05/2018 14:11

@twistedpink hahah tell me about it. My partner snores aswell which never bothered me before cause I could sleep through it just fine. However now it really gets on my nerves especially when I am trying desperately to get back off to sleep. I have had to invest in some ear plugs although they don't seem to do much. I just feel like a zombie it's unreal 😫

Funnily enough here I am in the day time... A flipping zombie. It's just overnight I have any form of brain power. Great for working Hmm

@Aw12345 haha 😂

Am I evil that I have relocated my husband to the spare room for this last trimester. The snoring is bad enough normally but now it's positively torturous. I've slept so much better since 😂😳😂😳

I could have written hear posts!! I am 36 weeks too, and am so exhausted, but can’t sleep.

I get stupid songs going round and round in my head (last night was Bulletproof by La Roux), and obsess about ridiculous non-problems (where to buy donuts for my team on my last day at work). I have hellish SPD too, any movement wakes me up from the pain, then the process starts again.

DH has moved into the spare room because my fidgeting and grump-ing wakes him up, but I miss him. Even the cats don’t want to share a bed with me :(

I have had a really rough pregnancy but this might be what breaks me!

Flowers to everyone with insomnia

Aw12345 · 30/05/2018 22:03

@iamloading love that idea. Totally going to copy you there! 😂😂😂

twistedpink · 31/05/2018 06:33

I like to keep my partner in bed with me, it gives me a reason to punch him every now and again! :)
Anyone else have a partner who moans about being tired? Idiot!

I'm almost 38 weeks now, and to go down with my insomnia (went to sleep at 12, woke up at 5, had 6 pee stops between) I keep waking up starving!!!!!!
I literally ate half a terrys chocolate orange at 3am because it was the only bit of food near my bed ( probably should get a fruit bowl up here now)

lilliannrose · 31/05/2018 09:28

@iamloading hahah needs must. I am just glad my partner has started doing nights so I can have the entire bed to myself with no snoring. 😂😂

@dinksandbinks I know whah you mean about SPD. I have the same too and it's so painful turning over in bed sometimes brings tears to my eyes

lilliannrose · 31/05/2018 09:32

@twistedpink hahah mine does and I am like seriously? You've kept me awake with your snoring for most of it. lol Same, I wake up starving hungry about 3ish. I literally have a stash of Iceland pancakes by my bed so I can munch.

dinksandbinks · 31/05/2018 10:18

@lilliannrose It’s so crap isn’t it? Last night I took 2 paracetamol before bed and it seemed to help a little. Have you tried anything for hour SPD? I’ve been going to physio, and doing my pelvic floor exercises religiously, but I swear it’s getting work.

Btw for the racing-minds, I downloaded a white noise app on my phone at around 3am, which helped a bit! It was a lot better than last night’s song-stuck-in-my-head of What About Us by Brandy (seriously wtf is wrong with me, I didn’t know I even knew that song)

dinksandbinks · 31/05/2018 10:18

*getting worse (sleep deprived typos!)

lilliannrose · 31/05/2018 11:00

@dinksandbinks yeah tell me about it. I literally only went to my midwife appointment yesterday and god help me I don't know how I got back. The pain! I did have a one off physio session and they gave out leaflets on exercises to do like pelvic floor etc but i keep forgetting lol. I should do them really. I have been naughty.

lilliannrose · 31/05/2018 11:02

@dinksandbinks yeah you're right with the white noise actually. I used to find listening to the sound of a rain is quite soothing but then I stopped for some reason. I shall have to start doing it again.
