Hi everyone,

I'm 10 weeks, think I've got through the worst of the sickness but now hayfever is killing me. My eyes are red even with drops, I get fits of sneezing and my throat is sore and I'm coughing. Baby does not like the coughing!

@FireAndRain45
What pills did you get given? I had fexofenadine and fluticasone furoate before?
Feel like I've been let down by my surgery, can't sleep because of the allergy symptoms or concentrate at work.

I wasn't seen by a doctor but an 'advanced practitioner' which I think is a prescribing nurse.
All the questions I had, she went in and asked the doctor

Talk to your midwife. I was told by my GP not to take antihistamines but the midwife spoke to them and I managed to get a prescription - it wasn't loratadine or ceterizine though can't remember what it was. Mind you I was 35 weeks so may depend on how far along you are.

@Penguin34 he said I could keep up my fexofenadine or use the over the counter ones if I wanted something less strong. And said sodium cromoglicate eye drops are fine too. Not sure why they go against the nhs advice?! Obviously when they look it up it's going to say not recommended for use in pregnancy but literally everything says that because they can't do proper tests on pregnant women. But people have been taking them for years and it's been fine. I'd ask to see another doctor.

I was in very early pregnancy by the way and they said that was fine too

Thanks Hun.
I'm currently 26 weeks.
I think it was because I saw the 'advanced practitioner' and she just answered from what was in the book without making any actual decisions or give advice.
I'm going abroad for a week today then midwife the day I get back so I'll ask her then x

All she did was look in the book and unless you want paracetamol the book says no!

I hate it when hpc are dismissive like that.
go complain!

there are reasonably safe treatments for hayfever for pregnant women. and I really thing, a woman who can't breathe properly is a bad thing for the fetus.

I see you've got prevalin which day to day keeps mine at bay but in this recent very high count it's not cutting the mustard. To help clear my eyes I've been using a contact lense eye drop, it's basically for tired/gritty eyes and is fancy water as far as I can make out, but it does bring a little relief!

Apparently it will only be high on thurs compared to very high at all other times!

Penguin 34- I was on the same as you and this weekend experienced my first allergy attack since being pregnant-24 weeks.

I got piriton from gp and can honestly say its crap! Doesn't work and makes you feel horrible and drowsy. I am 100% going to go to the gp this week as no way I am going to suffer like this at my babyshower in 3weeks.

Has anyone tried a air purifier in bedroom?
