Second time mums: Second trimester and feeling rubbish

18 weeks pregnant with DC2. Don’t remember this at all with DS1 but I’m feeling horrendous. Exhausted, light headed, like I might faint all the time. Last time I felt ok in the second trimester.

Is this just what pregnancy is like running around after a toddler? I feel like I’m not coping well at all. I only work 4 days now but I don’t know how I’m going to go in tomorrow. It all feels like too much.

I'm in my first trimester with DC2. I've been so ill with sickness, headaches & even bleeding! Never had anything with DS1 so I'm finding that I'm struggling this time round. My DS1 is 8 now and super independent so I'm very grateful for that x

18 weeks here too, felt faint and dizzy all morning out of nowhere, apparently it's the time for low blood pressure. Should improve soon fingers crossed.

Only on baby 1 myself but have definitely had this... Am third trimester now and it has definitely been the easiest for me by a long way. First trimester flipping awful, 2nd almost as bad, third much more survivable.

Good luck :-) hope it gets better for you soon :-)

I'm on baby #2 and am about 24 weeks, and have also found the second trimester this time around a lot less glowy and a lot more blah! I'm tired all the time but able to push through now, which I couldn't seem to in the first trimester, but I think the chasing a toddler around but definitely makes it tough. So tired and achy!

Smellyjo · 28/05/2018 21:12

Also 24 wks with number 2, defo finding it harder than first time as I'm bigger quicker, my toddler no longer naps and this is a summer pregnancy when I was getting bigger in the winter last time. I realise how much time I spent on my arse last time! But also that I did more regular exercise and self care. This time it's just survival lol. OP if you still feel in the morning that you can't go in, don't , it's not worth getting more exhausted. And have you discussed with mw? I've just discovered I'm low in iron and so glad to know there's a treatable cause to my crap feeling and not just pregnancy- I've been feeling first trimestery wipes which seems wrong at this stage.

I found 2nd trimester with dc2 really hard. I was ill most of it - had a blood test and had low b12 and iron - so started both of them. Baby was transverse which killed my hips. Since 3rd trimester I’ve felt much better!
Things to get through it included napping when toddler napped, time off work when I was ill (normally I would have powered through) and a pregnancy massage (on a waterbed thing - was incredible!)

I'm 33 weeks with DC2 and have a 4yr old, but I definitely know how you feel. Even walking up the stairs is starting to be a problem, sometimes I have to have a little sit down! The worst bit for me though is turning over in bed...

Thanks ladies. Good to know I’m not alone! Hope you all feel better soon!

100% agree. I'm 24 weeks with my second and have found it so tiring so far. Sickness finally eased up, but the sheer exhaustion is relentless. I've been a lot more emotional as a result and prone to breaking down this time round and little things just seem impossible sometimes, even just maiming to get dd1 to bed (which she does with little issue now, but still a task for me) also I feel HUGE. I look like should be 30+ weeks and the thought that baby still has so much time to grow is panicking me slightly! I already feel so uncomfortable

Nic165 · 29/05/2018 07:59

*trying to get dd1 to bed!! Not maiming
